Looking to buy new radial slicks for my duster currently running 71 duster 451 big block auto with 3:73 gears have mono leaf and caltracs with adj shocks 6 cyl springs and 90/10s was running 11.50s @119 mph with 28x8.5 slicks want to try 26x9 to help with small gears but am worried about not hooking anyone run them with similar times/set up? Current 60ft times are 1.7

i ran 26x8" Hoosier QTP, of course not a radial but less wide than you´d like to use...best 60ft. is 1.60, best ET 11.61....my car is a 1968 Valiant 2dr, medium performance iron headed 408 SB, 3.73 Gears. I think the new tires can do the job for you. I switch to radials too for next season, 255/60-15 ET Street R.....but will change the gears to 4.10 also. Hope for some improvement!

My G70-14 polyglass tires are around 25.8" tall, 3.91 gears, low gear set tranny. Has gone 1.53 60' It's all in the setup.

That's really good for some polyglass! What kind of suspension are you running? I could always step up my gearing but don't want to take away from the street, 360duster what kind of suspension are you running?

front all stock, CE 90/10 shocks, rear SS-springs 002/003, CE shocks. Works pretty good for what it is. I expect to get into the 1.5X range 60ft. wise this season.....

You're losing some sidewall which helps absorb some hit, and you're losing some contact patch. So you may have to play with shock settings and launch rpms. It will probably lose some consistency too until you have some experience with them. IMO you're better building a different chuck for it with the gearing you need and keeping the maximum roll out.

It's all stock.......appearing. Stock uppers with homemade roller bearings, afco low friction balljoints. Stock lowers with homemade roller bearings. Stock strutrods. Currently has Viking shocks, but has run very well with the calvert 90/10's. Homemade rear leafs, custom hangers, Viking shocks.

What converter do you have? I suspect your converter is more to blame for your poor 60 foot time than your gear ratio is. My 68 Satellite would 60 ft (1.69)as well as yours even though my et and mph are slower(12.35 at 107). 8.5 440,292 Comp, 906s, Torker, 750 dp , 10 inch converter(about 3800 stall) and 3.23 gears with 28x9 ET drags. Aprox 3700 lbs. If your converter is close to optimum, I believe the effective gear ratio increase from a 2 inch shorter tire will net very little et improvement. I would stay with the taller tires, especially if you plan on going faster in the future.

What is the ignition timing profile?

Have you moved your launch RPM around. I think that should be in the low 1.50 high 1.40 range if things are right.

keep your bigger tires, and put in a low first gear set in the tranny.

I have a 3400 lbs Volare wagon with a 408, low first gear 904, and 3.73 gears. Run a 28/10.5 radial tire on it.

Sixty foots are low 1.50's and has been 6.99 in the 1/8th a few times.

Let the low gear set be where you gain down low, and keep your big tires, and 3.73's.

I ran a 8x26 in the 90's on my Dart.
