Getting some first rate help from local parts stores on a replacement relay for this Duster. I am needing a horn relay for a 72, I ran through some troubleshooting - all of which led me to the relay being bad. Ended up opening up the old relay to confirm my findings and sure enough, wire leading to the coil was burned through. Anyone have any replacement part numbers I can get these local goons to look up? Numbers on the original are:

1642
3513 211 -
36033K

None of the numbers came back with any results for them or so they say. Hard for me to believe these aren't still out there - I searched on the internet for them and they are a multi-use many years, found a few on ebay...

If you were capable of opening it, you are probably capable of repairing it. :D

if those two terminals side by side are common , try Standard Motor Products HR135
It's the one I bought from Rock Auto for my 67 Cuda, but it has 3 terminals.

1642 stands for 164th day of 1972, 3513211 is the partnumber and 36033K is the manufacturer of the relay.

So after some chatting with some fantastic help at Oreillys I was able to look in the "great green" book.

R218 looks like a viable replacement, this number also crosses to an HR138 Standard so if anyone is in need of a replacement down the road, about $16-$18 can get you one in a day or two just about anywhere...

Here are a couple pictures from the book. I think I will try to repair the one I have just out of my own curiosity more than anything, keep it as a backup if nothing else or be like hmm that's neat and throw it away. Doubt it would last very long after being burned out once before.

Interesting, old Ma has to be about the best there was about stamping id numbers on parts. Seems like every d*mn thing on this car is stamped somewhere

I believe, but don't "quote" me on this.........if you don't HAVE to have the warning buzzer function, replace it with an older 3 terminal one, which may? be more available.

O'Reallys shows an R213 for a '70

I looked through some of your old posts on troubleshooting the circuit, thank you for pointing out the basics. Remove black grounding trigger wire from relay and ground terminal = no honking most likely a bad relay. I pulled the three prong off and checked for 12 volts, violet wire had it, jump violet to green w/red tracer = honk honk. Went back to check my trigger wire in the column and the column connections, all good. Ended up popping the relay apart to confirm. :prayer:Thanks again

Thought about that, but figured it wouldn't last very long having been melted down once. If this search hadn't produced some results I just might have given it a shot.

R218 fixed it, key buzzer sounds weak - but the horn works. Also replaced then turn signal 224/flasher with an EL12, if anyone is looking for part numbers there ya go
