Installed a '73 NOS Carter two-barrel on my 318. The choke is not fully open when the engine reaches operating temperature and it has no indexing adjustment like some chokes have. Is it correct that the only way to correct this is to bend that rod that runs up from the thermostatic spring bolted to the intake manifold? Thank you.

Unless your choke T-stat has a nut underneath the cover plate that allows you to change the indexing of the springs mounting shaft.

Use the adjusting nut if it has one, if not bend the rod...

Did lots of bending back in the day, then the weather changes and you bend again.
