How many CURRENT owners of real '74 360 Duster 4 speed cars on here?

I am baffled why I keep getting "disagree" labels on this post? Anyone that disagreed care to comment?

I thought I was being pretty gentle in reminding people to please keep the thread on topic, which was not about auto equipped '74 Duster 360's. Not saying they aren't worthy of respect, or that I don't like them, just that they weren't what I was asking about (i.e. not on topic).

Don't much care, just confused on why someone would disagree.

That looks right Dion-same as 72-73 340 A-body for drivers side. The Driver's side is the unusual one and more valuable for the A-body. Whatever the number is for the 72-73 340 on the right- should be same for 74 360.

Seems reasonable. I though my build sheet had the last three digits for exhaust manifolds, but it didn't.

I was told that 586 was the total number of 1974 Duster 360 4 speed cars produced. Does anyone know of a different #?

Where did u get ur info? Kim

That’s the number that Galen Govier shows in his White Book. Mine is the second printing from 1994, no idea if it has been changed since then.

Supposedly, 3 speeds are even rarer.

1974 Duster 360
3 speed - 318 produced
4 speed - 586 produced
Auto - 2975 produced

I will look up this number when I get home and see what it is shown for. I would bet it is the correct one, just curious to see what Galen's book says.

And I forgot to look that number up. Sorry.

It matches to a RH 71-73 A/B/E Body 340 or a 71-73 C Body 360. Betting that is the correct one for a 74 Duster 360.

Here ya go Dion. Here is some 74 manifolds pics with numbers and dates. Disregard the first 2 pics. Kim

Dates are the last time they posted in this thread with something indicating they still owned the car after the previous time the list was compiled.

That’s nineteen 1974 Duster 360 original 4 speed cars, of which I can’t guess at how many are still owned by the person on the list beyond myself.
I still have my numbers matching TX9 car-Lou

19 car, pretty cool!

Now we need to find someone to run a registry. I came up with the idea so I am automatically excluded from consideration for the position.

1st question....What would be required to run a registry? 2nd question do you think forabodiesonly would assist?

I think a registry is just list with someone willing to maintain it. In this day and age, it would probably be a website maybe with additional info pertaining to the cars on the registry. I expect it would have to be on a different server than FABO's unless maybe a fee were paid to carry it or something.

I guess in some ways, you could say the list I have been compiling is a registry. Loose and hard to find, but kind of one.

I think the other thing about a registry is, there seems to be some kind of check to make sure the car is legitimate. Not sure what though. And probably some sort of agreement with the owner that certain info would stay secure, or not required.

Just tossing ideas out.

I know there is (or used to be) a registry for some other car referenced on
FABO, but I can't remember what it was.

Seems like I keep tripping over people on here that own 1974 4 speed Dusters 360's, and I am curious how many there are.

I'm talking currenlty owned factory VIN code "L", E58 Dusters built in 1974, with 4 speeds. Not "I used to have....", not 1974 Duster's that someone put a 360 in, and then converted to a 4 speed. Nothing against them, just not what I am asking about.

Funny thing is (to me), they built more 1970 Hemi Cuda's in total than 1974 Duster 360's with 4 speeds, at least according to the production numbers I have. And yet, I keep seeing people say they have one. In fact, it almost seems that there are more 4 speed cars than auto's here as I can only think of two people with 1974 Duster 360 auto's, Prine and one other.

I know of at least (3) others besides myself with 4 speed cars, just wondering if there are any others.

Love to hear some stories and history, too.

Short story on mine is; found it in a junkyard in '91 or '92, fixed it and drove it as my daily until about 2000, sold it to a buddy who owned it as his first car, got it back in July of 2009 and finally drove it again 3 or 4 weeks ago. Sad part is, the week before I got it back it was a running and driving car and it didn't turn a tire in anger again until I drove it home a month ago, but that's a story for later. I will try and put some pictures up later, too.
Not sure if ur still looking for these cars but I just bought one in Urbana ohio. Story is it’s from Arizona. Runs drives great. Power disc brakes, buckets no console. Look all original even paint even has original jack in it. Rear defroster. I will post pics haven’t even cleaned it up yet!

Nice find/score! Looks to be pretty solid. Keep us updated on the progress.

That’s a late build ‘74 with a production date of May 30, 1974. They started producing the ‘75 MY Dusters in August.

Definitely titled as a1974. My plan is to flip it.
