so on my duster i have the bf goodrich silvertown tires 6.4x15 in the front. when i turn my wheels only the passenger side gets hung up on the rear of the wheel well. the front of wheel well has plenty of room. on my driver side it clears whether i turn left or right. i was thinking if i turn the rear cam bolt on the uca outwards and the front cam bolt inwards i might be able to fix this but haven't tried. any advice?

Yes I dont see why not, the geometry isnt perfect anyways, but check a few things first, like measuring from certain points on the chassis and suspension parts. like from the front edge of the pinch weld under the fender to the rear of the k-frame, on both sides, do this in several places on different stationary parts. Im not suggesting that you car was wrecked, but ma mopar wasnt always spot on. A friend had a duster and the same problem on his, wheels didnt scrub but on one side. (his was in the rear) Got out a tape and the rear frame was welded in the car crooked! It wont take you long and it will let you know if you got bigger probs. good luck

Also check your strut rods, check to see if they are adjusted approx. the same length.

Don't do it!! That would pretty much hose your wheel alignment.

Are the front end components in good shape? Has the car ever been wrecked?

Take the car to a reputable alignment shop and have them check it out.

My Demon apparently got into a fight with a curb or something but as I was prepping the car for a BB, I noticed that the K-member had damage where the strut rod goes through. It was bent 3/8" at the strut rod hole. (New K-member time) not to mention the lower control arm having a odd shape to it.

Good Luck!

well i just rebuilt all my suspension front to rear. the fenders are all aligned and cant go back any more. the alignment isn't done due to dont have a motor in car yet. ill check strut rods, maybe i can pull passenger side lca forward if its father than driver side. to my knowledge the previous owner was an elderly man who owned it since it left the plant. no record of damage with the pile of papers he gave me.

there is another thread with the same problem listed, drop a plomb bob from the front rear spring hanger bolts and measure to variouse points....k frame,if that is square go to the grease fittings on the lower ball joints.if they are not square adjust strut rods.

If the car hasn't been to an alignment shop, don't waste your time. With the UCA cams visually set about the same your shouldn't have so much switch as to cause only one tire to rub.

Did you have a frame shop check that the unibody was basically square before you painted it?

BTW where did you find bias ply Silvertowns? An antique store? I didn't think you could buy tires that bad thee days.

i did not have a frame shop check out my car due to i didn't think it was hit. my friend greg fernald (ss/afx) helped me pick out my wheel/tire combo.

I'll have an alignment shop check it out when i can.

well i messed around with the front suspension today. atleast for now i have the wheels cambered in all the way and raised the car. since no motor is in it itll have to do now.
