my 68 dart is a factory A/C car, but when I got the car all the under hood components were gone, as well as the under dash components, at least I think those are gone as I have never seen what they should look like, though I have seen similar years stuff for different cars.

I do still have the factory controls however. when I got the car the controls were non functioning, the heater core had no lines running to it and the blower motor, though there, was not wired into the system. I replaced the core and blower motor and not knowing how to wire get the controls to work simply wired my own power switch to the blower motor. The heater box under the dash was set to defrost, which is all I need for now.

but, what is the best way to go about making it work right? I have a 69 non A/C car in which I beleive everything works, can I swap the entire under dash heater box from the 69 to the 68 with the non a/c controls?

can i make the stuff i nthe 68 work as is without the A/C stuff?

I am planning to replace the wiring harness with one from Painless. How will that interact with the heater system? I dont really remember that being mentioned on the schematics.

If your blower moter and heater core and all duck work is fine I would just change ot the control system in your dash,It should have 1 primary supply that will turn on your blower with a three speed switch and linkage to your blower box that changes to floor heat or defrost,It my look difficult just simplify it, :salute:
There is a cable that go's out under your hood to a gate valve that controls hot water
to your heater core and a cable that control's your defrost gate under your dash.
and that is about it. Yes I do believe your 69 controller will work.

i had to replace the hoses leading from the engine to the heater core, there are no valves aside from a screw valve i put in to manually turn the water on and off.

I will definitly see if I cant use the controls from the 69 need to just tear it apart and see what I got to work with.

my concern was about ... resistors or whatever that is that slows things down, since with the switch i rigged for the blower motor it had one speed full on, and I am not sure how that is handled in the works. and whether there might be something else other than the controls that might need to be replaced.

thanks for your help memike, you seem to come to my rescue alot ;-)
