How to pull the axles on a '65 7-1/4" SG ?

Local NAPA used to be real good for being able to get parts for older vehicles. Manager really knew his shi*, errr , stuff.
Unfortunately for me, he is no longer there.
They try, but just isn't the same.
I almost dread going to any of the other " chain" parts stores. If it ain't a "tuner" car they don't have a clue.
Had a counter guy the other day didnt know what a venturi in a carb was.
Sad.
 
Just as was said before. I'm not sure the purpose, but they are very inexpensive. The factory had to install these for a reason. That was good enough reason for me.
