HP in oil?

When I was a kid we used to race flat bottom jet boats.

Every weekend I would wax the bottom of the boat. Did it make it any faster?

I dont know. Did we lose often?

No.
I think if I wax my brick it's just going to make it heavier LOL..

Honestly theres science that says a flat smooth and waxed bottom is much slower than a bottom that sucks air. (Insert joke here)

(The same reason flat "glass" water is slow, a slight ripple on the lake is fast, to much ripple is dangerous!

Think about all the science that goes into a golf ball.
Back then we didn't have the benefit of the internet.

I like it. I think it's a great place to look for horse power if you're a professional points racer. That's thinking outside the box and that's what makes the difference between a real racer looking for every bit of speed and the rest.

Don Garlits, did research and development with of all things polishes and waxes on his car's finishes. They actually found some E.T. by keeping a fresh coat of wax on the car, so all the rest started doing it. It's little details that can put you out front. Oil is certainly one of those. For the rest of us? It probably won't make a hill of beans difference.

Great point now if you had a bigger hat you could probably cover it! LOL cuz there's so many points Racers out here on the Forum. I'd go out on a limb and say there's 98% who just like to see their motor live...

I don't disagree. IMO, that's because most REAL racers don't hang out on forums. They are either at the track or working on their car to make it go faster.

I disagree, I think there's quite a few real racers here.

I've spent dang near my entire life making everything I own faster and racing.
Lots of folks here are way more serious than I am.

We're lucky enough to have some very serious racers here who share there hard earned lessons.

that's funny because one time I mentioned this forum to one of the guys that I race with who's very fast and has a stroked big block dual quad Duster who actually was in on winning a team Wally this last year and I mentioned again this forum to him and he couldn't stop laughing...

Don't know if they still do it, but back in the '70's , Stock eliminator racers ran straight 5 weight oil and only 3-4 quarts. Probably not today, with crank scrapers, windage trays, and synthetic oils.
