Huge FCA recall.....

You call it what you want, but its a piece of ****! I've got half a brain and figured out how much of a turd it is in the first day. Unfortunately I still haven't figured out the shifter. I've had about three close calls in a 2016 jeep so far. With the push button start and the shifter combination, its an accident looking for a place to happen. Oh and don't forget the fancy paddle shifters that are useless as tits on a boar hog.

It's simple. Press button and push forward on the handle. Not difficult. There is also a readout in the center of the instrument cluster that tells you what gear you are in. To go from park to drive, you press the button and pull back on the handle. I seriously don't understand what the fuss is all about. I guess as the saying goes. You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

I'll just stick with older stuff, or manual transmissions.

Although to be honest, some of the shifters in our cars are just as confusing :D

My sister finally got her learners permit (she's in her mid 20's now), but couldn't handle my dad or my mom in the passenger seat. So I let her loose in my '84 D50 4x4 (Lifted, Small Block from a 'Cuda).

She couldn't figure out the B&M Ratchet Shifter in the truck (Semi-Auto 727), so I shifted it out of Park for her, and shifted it back into Park when we got home. It was funny though, I had to teach her how to Power-Brake... Because the 273 in the truck has a nasty cam in it, and the converter doesn't have enough stall to match, so the truck requires one foot on the gas and one on the brake to idle at stop signs and redlights.

Imagine, if you will. a 5'1" woman with attitude and 2 hours of driving experience, behind the wheel of a D50 on 35" Tires, powered by a 273 that was pulled out of a drag car. It's the stuff of nightmares. LOL

sounds like chrysler forgot people are dumber than a box of rocks in general these days.

You're assuming that people understand new technology and the technology in the cars.

People still think that ABS will shorten braking distances. It doesn't, it helps maintain control of the car during braking in slick conditions. All of us gear heads know this, but the average driver thinks that they can tailgate because "hey, I have ABS!"

Karli's mom was up last weekend with her '12 Challenger, saying she needed new rear tires. Karli took a look and told her they were over-inflated. (Center tread gone, outside edges like new.) The reply was, "well, the TPMS light isn't on," like somehow the TPMS measures the exact recommended tire pressure. She had no idea that the TPMS reads within a percentage of each tire. When I explained to her that if she brought the tire pressure down to 35# each tire instead of going with the full recommended pressure, as long as each tire was within range of the 35# the TPMS light still wouldn't come on she looked at me like I had two heads.

As a result of the false belief of "this" is the pressure you need to keep the car "happy" she needs two new tires.

All companies are looking for selling points, all companies are trying to keep themselves from being sued, all companies are trying to protect their warranties. Combine all 3 of these and you get stupid inventions.
This is why they don't want to sell you a manual shift transmission in trucks. Warranty work says too many folks don't know how to drive a stick when pulling.
They build cars for the ignorant (stupid), not the majority. Just like laws......

I had a valet park my 65 with a Hurst Pro-matic 2 shifter. The guy couldnt get it out of park. Now if that shifter never got recalled.....
