I hate this new crap. Typical 44/46?" inch flat, and NO decent outputs. No speaker/ headphone jacks, no analog audio. Only "out" is this stupid optical digital audio. And I could not get it to work right with the adapter. You have to go into the menu and fiddle with some delay setting to sync the audio / video and for some reason it would not stay put channel to channel. Also the digi output is line level, so the remote speakers are no longer controlled by the remote

Big issue, is that often, watching a movie on DVD or from the ROKU box via HDMI there is not enough audio for some reason. "Off the air" TV is "just enough" usually, but an external input is not

So tonight I pulled the back off, mounted two china RCA jacks in the back, and paralleled the jacks with the damn poor little tiny speakers. I may hook them to an amp but I'll have to use some form of isolation as the speakers are not at common ground. But just hooking them to a mediocre pair of larger speakers---closer to "me" may be all the difference I need

...........And the screen was dirty LOLOL

'ats just how i fixed my 32 inch flat screen few weeks ago....

I got a nice soundbar a couple of years back. Specifically for people with higher frequency (like human voice) hearing loss like I have. I have to say I've been very impressed with it. It has all that internet capable crappola but I don't use any of that. It works good.

HDMI with ARC let's me run my TV audio through an external stereo unit to drive the speakers and subs, and my TV remote still controls the volume. Works a treat. Spent under $200 on a used Sony box and satellite speakers with a center channel. Added a couple subs later. Having the lows through a dedicated speaker really helps make vocals clear.

These newfangled tvs shouldn't even bother including a speaker. The built in one's are universally garbage.

Trouble with this set Rusty is that the only output (optical digital) is not controlled by the remote, it is fixed line level. WTF good is that???

ON A LAST NOTE, what little I've used this IT ALREADY was worth the work. No amp will be needed. I "had" a decent little modular system which I never used---it has all push button/ digital / menus/ etc controls which are a complete mess to use. So I'm using just the speakers. Turns out the set amp has plenty of power--just didn't have "enough speakers" Getting them closer to me plus better speakers even my deaf *** is plenty loud now!

they think everyone runs it through an amp and uses a universal remote to control everything

On our TV set we got surrounds sound, so the center speaker sits right below the TV

We got kids which are usually in between us and the TV, and you really had to crank it to hear it over the kids

So I installed a diverter switch and run some speaker wire under the carpet to the couch and mounted a speaker on the headrest in between my seat and the wife's

Now, when the kids are home, I flip the switch and the sound comes out right behind me

When they aren't home, flip it the other way and run it over the normal speaker

My 60" SILO brand (Fry's) doesnt even have buttons on the frame, EVERYTHING IS REMOTE CONTROLLED! I already bought a spare remote....The high level speaker hack you did should work fine BUT youll have wonky inputs to the amp. you can hack one of these $10 converters in for true low level inputs to a (small) amps RCA ins.

that's where I got my signature from. you. :thankyou:

Didn't you know you are supposed to buy a surround sound system for that TV? I think that is why the TV's speakers are so crappy and there are no audio outputs. Go out and buy a surround system like they want you to.
LOL

^^ I 'sort of did' LOLOL^^ These speakers I'm now using I BOUGHT at a thrift store LOL

Watching an old movie right now. "Charley Varrick" Walter Matteau. He and an accomplice rob a small town bank, Charley's wife gets shot and dies. "Varrick" was a broke has been crop duster pilot and on we go. Jo Don Baker, lots of others, pretty fair cast list
