I've been talking to a guy about buying his 72 340 4 spd Demon for about two months now. I talked to him last Wed and set up to go buy it tomorrow, got directions and everything. I called him today and he told me he decided to hold off... Now I've got a pile of cash just sittin' there. Man am I bummed!

Hang in there and don't burn any bridges with the seller. Make sure you let the seller know that you are still interested when he does decide to sell.

I just went through nearly the same thing to get my 70 FJ5 Duster. I just played the waiting game and everything worked out. Also another possiblity is that if gas prices get much higher in the next couple of months you have that to your advantage if the seller is needing money!

Good Luck
:thumleft:

I told him to give me a call if he changed his mind. I should have asked him to let me see the car anyway and let the cash talk. I am still bummed and a little p.o'ed. I feel like just forgetting about it and if he calls tell him I found a much nicer car for much less than he was asking. I'm glad I didn't already sell one of my Darts like I was planning on doing to help pay for this thing.

I agree. As frustrating as it is, don't cheese the guy off. Let him know your serious.... and wave cash.

That always helps.... :D

If you live in the same area call the "seller" in a few days and let him know that you will be in his area and would like to stop and see the car so you have an idea of what the car is like. As mentioned above. TAKE CASH and if the car is what you want let the "seller" know that you want the car when he decides to sell. Then show him a little cash and say "its here when you get ready"

Also you might let the guy know "I am buying a car SOON and I have CASH NOW". That way he thinks that if you find another car before he makes up his mind he might just be out of luck. Some people are funny like that. They say they want to sell as long as they think nobody is going to buy it. But when someone steps up with the money they hide! It makes no sense to me but I know people like that. I guess they think it is like a "reserve" that IF they get in a situation they have a "buyer" and can dump something at any given time.

Good advise, I will call him in a day or two and let him know the cash is waiting. If he still doesn't want to sell, I'll pay off some bills and foget about it. Unfortunately he's almost two hours away from me so stopping by isn't really realistic.

don't waste it on bills hold on to it and a nice car will show up eventually i got mine for a real deal cause i was in the right place at the right time :)

Yes Tim, this is the guy in Milw. Maybe I'll start to pressure Brian again...for real!
