I guess it is ALL about the money. New IHRA rules

So how long before someone with too much $$ and no skills crashes one of these cars at those speeds and gets hurt? I thought 10.00s was plenty fast without a roll bar/cage.
It happened right in front of me in 2014. I was in the burnout pit and the guy in front of me had a mustang cobra with in transit signs on it. He kept busting the tires loose, letting the clutch out and flooring it again until he broke the 2 piece driveshaft and launched the car up in the air. I'm sure the airbag deployed, but was deflated by the time he hit the tree beside the track and killed himself. Nothing but an open face helmet and a seatbelt. The track switched to 8th mile the next time it opened.

The requirement to have a competition license addresses the safety of the driver in the other lane. Also at my track you can not run quicker than 11.0 in Sportsman 1/4 bracket racing. I've also refused to make a pass when a person in the other lane can't even manage to stage a car.
I was at a race a few years back where the guy in the other lane ran his car into the wall doing the burnout! It was about a 10 second Camaro that his son was driving and winning with on Saturday. Dad decided to drive it in the Sunday race.
