I have no idea what this is

This was/is attached to the firewall between the blower fan and the hood hinge.

When I bought the car it was wired, but the wires went nowhere and were cut before the firewall connectors.

The round piece fits into the firewall. It appears to be a power transistor and the square piece appears to be a thermostatically controlled relay/switch.

I have had it on the workbench for the last couple years. I am planning to build a control to hook up to the a/c unit. I am wondering if this is what I intend to build.

That is for the NOX control (emissions). It has nothing to do with your A/C so your good to go.
