i now all about this carb i had it on the street for the past three years, not fun. the dual wide band helps. this carb doesnt like heat or hot fuel but passed smog yearly.
thanks though guys i was thinking the carb might be a bit small just a little tho.

It is a bit too small. For that I'd be looking at a Holley 950HP.

That's going to be fun. Nice job.
On a sour note, I had that same carb on my first 408. Sold it a year later to a Chevy dude and replaced it with a Holley. Haven't looked back........

12.38 @ 108 1.74 60. first run ehhh. i now it has more in it i have a afr meter and i was way to rich in the 9s all the way down. no tire spin light foot first run. i am happy i got to go racing. 2nd run no better 109 but i jumped. that was it for the day i have sum more tuning to do. i really wanted an 11 but i can wait till next time.

That is not a bad time at all. A little more tuning/practice and you will have your 11 sec pass.

no burnt and i think thats funny to. but may have put a lil more than 35.

ok thanks, my friend checked 3 different books and they all said nothing about loctite and I dont think they had loctite from factory ither

Very respectable time for a first pass. Good luck and hope you touch that 11 second pass next time out.

Burnt: No mention in any of my old service manuals about Loctite period. Just torque to specs.

You will DEFINATLY get into the 11’ with some tuning. I have a VERY similar combo going together right now and I’m expecting low 11’s on the motor.

My 408 in progress:
360, Eagle 4 inch steel crank, Scat I-beams, 10.6:1 compression (heads might get milled to bump it up)
Eddy heads with stage 2 port from RyanJ (Shady Dell Speed Shop)
Air-gap, Holley/Proform 750 dp,
Comp solid roller 248/254 @ 0.05 with 0.576/0.582 lift,
727, 8 inch PTC converter, 4.10 gears, 28x11.5 Hoosier QTP,
3250 lbs with driver.

Keep tuning, you will get there.
