I have an unknown edelbrock on the new Duster.
I have looked around for numbers with a flashlight but can't find anything.
Is there another way to ID this thing or a particular place I should look for numbers?

Look for the numbers on the passenger mounting pad. You can go to Edelbrock to look up the numbers. Easy.

All I can find are numbers on the pass front of the carb.
698 9656SA. I couldn't find crap on Edelbrock. Not even a search feature.

I even googled it, and nothing.

:cussing:

Could it be an old carter?

thats odd, got a picture of what you have? it should be in the same location for a edelbrock or carter. Its on the base itself, pass side. :wack:

9656.
No, that's it. Those are the numbers. But I think you may have gotten one wrong. Not sure. I have a old Carter catolog.

9...9000 series carb. Comp. series.
6...600 cfm
5...??? More on that later.
6...MoPar linkage carb.

If the 3rd number were to be a "3", it would be an emissions carb.
........"0" is a non- emissions carb.

Carters numbering system is weird. I can't find the document I have on it.

But heres a list of whats in the catolog;

9502 GM linkage, no choke, non-emissions, 500 cfm
9503 same as above with manual choke
9504, same as above, emissions, electric choke

9605 SAA 600 cfm manual choke non emissions

9635 SAA 625 emissions, e-choke
9636 SAA 625, MoPar linkage emissions e-choke
9637 SAA Ford
9641 SAA Marine

9755 750 GM manual choke no emissions
9758 750 SAA, Marine E-choke

They used to have each carb size in the big 3 linkages. Chevy/Ford/Mopar

I just took a can of gummout and rag to it.

Your a genious! It was a 3.

So that makes it a 625 cfm electric choke emissions carb?

It looked just like an ededlbrock. I didn't even suspect the Carter thing until I started researching it.

Thanks man! :salute:

9636, 625 cfm, MoPar linkage emissions e-choke ! You got it!
I put one up top a stock 360 w/dual exhaust. Ran nice. Got 20 mpg's w/a 2.76 rear and 26 inch tires. Good throttle response. Screamed up top.

That's good, its going to be the wife's daily, 245 gears though.

Know a good place to get a rebuilt kit for it?

I allways try and give my biz to the local guys, so long as there prices are reasonable. (For a kit, part(s) or work.) I can do most work myself.

I mostly go to Demon sizzler for things I have a hard time getting off the local shelfs.

Then it's Mancini racing, jegs, summit or the manufacture themselfs. Though I try not to do that. That can cost more than anyother part dealer.

Becareful with those gears. Mileage can suffer around town. Great for the long haul at higher speeds. The gear is so steep, the car can not get into the bang per gallon rpm.

I could have done better with headers and other such stuff.

Thanks for the info.

The gears are just what is in there now. I'm sure it will change by the time I am done with it to match the rest of the package. I still don't know if I will keep the 14's or go to 15's.
