Does anyone have a wiring scheme for the slant-6 ignition ?

I have ordered a racing ignition system from Hemi Performance in Australia and have asked someone to install it for me but he has asked for a wiring scheme to be 100% certain that he is installing it correctly.

Assistance, as always, is warmly appreciated.

Best regards,

Zuluman

What year car and what country was it sold in? Wiring changed considerably in 1966 (3rd bulkhead conn.), ~72 (electronic ignition, key switch in column), and ~74 (seat-belt interlock on ign). Some of these varied between countries too.

There are many postings of wiring diagrams here if you search.

My car is a 1975 Plymouth Valiant Custom, with the 3.7l slant six. It's an official factory import to France.

Search on here and you will find wiring diagrams for around that year. 67Dart273 gives links regularly so search his posts. France was probably similar (RH drive), but some things like seat-belt inter-lock are from U.S. federal mandates, so may be country-specific. I think 1975 had the "single-ballast" electronic ignition, so search for the 4-pin ECU wiring diagram, which you can find in many posts.

You probably just need to connect the two wires from the ballast together (IGN1 & IGN2) and use that for your ignition power. The combination will be hot in both "start" and "run" key positions.

I'll do the search and try the options you've suggested.

Thank you, gentlemen, for your assistance. The issue is now properly resolved by installing the Aussie distributor and retaining the ignition coil I purchased in Canada. Ignition timing is now normal, with no pre-ignition (pinking) on 100 octane petrol. Case closed.
