I'll try it too.

What Should it run?

340
13:1 compression
ported X heads
single plane intake

MP .528 lift solid cam with 1.5 gold roller rockers
850 Double pumper
1-5/8" headers
2 1/2" exhaust

727 with stock first gear, 4500 rpm converter
4.11 spool
325-50-15 BFG DOT

I think you need to try the 4.88s, either lose the exhaust or get some bigger pipes. You should beable to squeek in to the 11s I would think.

I don't think I should have to wring it out with the 4:88's to make it quicker, but I could be wrong.
We'll see what happens.

If you disconect the exhaust and hang it off the headers
by the bottom bolt hole you could pick up from.2 to.4 secs
:salut:
Norm do you have a manual valve body?

Yup, manual reverse valve body.
I'll eventually uncork the whole exhaust. For right now I have been taking the caps off of the Warlock mufflers and running straight thru them.

My old 69 Cuda ran a best of 12.19 with a very similar combo. Slightly less compression(11.1), Mopars .557 solid cam, 750 Holley, 1 3/4headers, 4200 converter, 4.88's, slicks. Times should be similar.

It depends on what the heads look like. I would say you could go with a better cam, and you have more squeeze then you need, plus the headers are a restriction definately. You should still be able to go mid-low 12s (12.20-12.40) with it fairly easy tho.

moper,
he has more motor than me and ive gone 12.07....i do have a nice set of heads though!!!

with 13:1 comp.,yes the headers are too small but it really should run very well!!!

Mike, he has the same engine as you, yours just make better use of it. IMO, 13:1 is way too high for that cam, and that cam is one of the old stand bys..It should be left standing by..after the lash, it's barely .500. I'd be looking for at least .560 lift, maybe closer to .570, a tight lash, and 265-275@.050 cam, and race headers. 1 5/8 will move air, but not what the engine wants..1 3/4 primaries like yours would be good..generally, I would not give an engine more compression then the cam requires, and that one will run with 9.5:1. There may actually be a problem with the speed of the burn, where it may be going so fast due to the compression, that the piston is not where it needs to be to get maximum push on it. As an experiment, you may want to try running C16 VP, or a similar high octane fuel. It might prove an interesting experiment..

Last time out I put C12 in it, to see if it would help.
Is there a specific cam you can suggest, Brand, part #?
I'll have to pull the heads and find out what kind of valve to piston clearence I have and see what would work.
