Illinois Native Michael Angelo Batio's TRIBUTE TO RANDY RHODES AND OZZY

Wasn't he in a band called Nitro way back in the day?
Yes Sir Dano. The last time Karrin and I saw him was at Tailgater's in Bolingbrook Il. It was Michael on guitar. The President of Dean Guitars on the Bass and a drummer of unknown origin. They opened up for the original Lynch Mob Lineup.

You have to keep playing long enough untill you break through to the next plateau as they say...Crazy Train isn't that difficult.

Might just be you need to find your playing style. The MAB's, Petrucci, VH's, all are the top echelon of their style. I don't compare myself to them because they probably can't thread in a spark plug. Although I do a good Pavarotti impression when I #*$&*& something up in the garage.

Guitar is something where you cant watch someone else play and tell yourself "I cant do that" and quit. Its really great today because you can look up how to play songs on the web and at least have a way to learn a song. In the old days it was buy a book or listen and try and play along or go watch someone live and try and figure it out it took a bit more 40 years ago. I think Batio has lessons on line actually. I recomend also starting a band if you know people play what you can you'll find people enjoy even the simplest music played live.

And back then the official tab books were wrong. If you played what was in that book, it never sounded right. Sure, the main riff was good but the solo? Not even close. I had the AIC and Megadeth official tabs and they only got you in the ballpark. Now you can download a powertab archive, light years ahead.

Wicked Sensation... awesome... George rips it.

Nice tribute deal!

Nah don't give up because someone is good. Motivate to get better and find what you like to play. Fast scale runs bore the heck out of me, talented yep, just not something I like to listen to. Hard funk, blues, dirty type grooves, all day, Like those best. I gave up playing guitar in the early 90's after busting up my left hand doing stupid stuff. Decided a while back going to get back into it even if it was uncomfortable because it's a release. Long slow grind where the finger dexterity is gone and trying to find it again is aggravating. Getting better all the time.

Some of those tabs are so far off from where the song is actually voiced it's not funny. They are great for finding your way though, used them a lot. I try to do things by ear, laziness catches up and stuff like Songster site makes it a bit easier. :) Youtube is great, I caught a performer doing a song on acoustic that was very different from every tab I'd seen.

For everyone that responded to the Tina Setkic gig she is taking time off from Medical School and started a 3 piece band "Spin Twice." She picked up a pretty sharp drummer. This is her today. Youtube is full of her childhood videos crushing an excellent version of Gary Moore's Loner, Pink Floyd Comfortably numb and of course Eddie Van Halen's Eruption when she was a teenager.

In my 69 years as a lover of great guitar playing...the thing that separates the great players from the superlative players, is the ability to create and play their own killer, different, and pleasing solos.
Creativity, is more important than ability in my eyes. Having both, is like having eargasms.
