I found out that I wasn't getting oil to the push rods and ruined a few of them. So I took a closer look today and the shafts I got from Indy do not have a provision for the oil to come up from the head into the rocker shaft. There is supposed to be a larger hole in the shaft on that section. Bottom line is I starved the rocker's and push rods of oil. The shafts are junk and so are the rocker's now. Plus 4 push rods! I called Scotty and he sent me some pics from his set up and his shafts are completely different. I got the heads and rocker's and shafts from Ryan J. He said Indy would stand behind this but them emailed me tonight and thought the oil should be able to work it's way up the threads so I should'nt have an oiling problem. He thought maybe I had the shafts on wrong. Well I didn't and now I might be screwed. I will know tommorow.

who knows? all I know is I have $1000 worth of junk parts and rocker shafts that caused the problem. Indy can say what ever they want and Ryan can only go by what they say. I wouldn't expect Ryan to dig in his pocket over this deal. It's really not his fault. I do and did count on him to make sure I got the right stuff but mistakes happen.

he will tommorrow but from what he is saying the shafts are fine and I probably did something wrong or something is not right? all I know is Scotty looked at the pics of the shafts and has never seen one look like that. His don't look like that! and he's been right about everything I've done so far so I'm gonna take his word over anyones at this point. Plus one of my salespeople is probably onme fo the best mechanic's/performance guy's I know of/heard of, or exist's period. He was the number one ross piston dealer in the country a few years back before his wife divorced his and took his business away. He re torqued the heads and heard it fire up and said there was a problem. I called him today and he said the shafts are junk to begin with. I'm taking the shafts, rocker's and studs with me to work tommorrow for him to look at. He will know what the problem is.

i agree with you about scotty!!!...ive called him 4-5 times today and he's been right EVERYTIME!!!!

i hope all works well!!!

Damn sorry to hear this, Hopefully it will all work out in the end.
Sounds like ya got the wrong shafts, and my question to Indy would be if these are the right shafts then why are your friends shafts totally different and work fine?

So Sorry to hear about this.
Hopefully one of the two will own up to the mistake.
Hope you can prove wrong parts and they fix it.
The whole thing sucks. :(

Hawaii, can you take a pic of the shafts I sent you and post it. I would like to see the second hole from the end of hte shaft with the notch on it. It should be bigger than the rest of the holes.

Thanks Brett

well I just odered new shafts today and will fix the issue myself. I also ordered 8 new push rods and a new set of adjusters. Ryan and Scott told me that the shafts were right and maybe I didn't get enough oil up there quick enough on start up so I gualed the rocker's and pluged them. I did not prime the motor but I never have before, EVER and haven't had a problem. Oh well, lesson learned.

Hope this is what you wanted to see.

May not be the same problem you are having but when I bought my W2 econo heads they sent me new shafts and rockers. The new shafts were identical to the originals. The problem I found was the W2 heads require 3/8" bolts for the rocker hold downs where the original bolts were 5/16". The 3/8" bolt will fit the original hole but will not allow enough clearance for oil from the head to the shaft for oiling. You can drill the shaft bigger or you can do as I did and have the bolt machined so it will be a smaller diameter where the shaft meets the head. By doing this I have to make sure that I install the bolt in the head oiling hole each time. Good luck..

make shure youve got oil commining up throught the head, maybe the head gasket or head are not drilled corectly,i would pull the shafts off and prime the engine to see if your getting oil up there, think about it,you didnt have this problem with your old set up............and i cant believe a "dry start" from when you installed them would cause such damage to that pushrod, you would of had to start it up and rev it at 3000 rpm for at least 5 minuets for that to happen(and thats with no oil pressure...... i would check your head...umm heads :D

Thanks Hawaii! That second hole looks larger to me!

MoparAndy, you are exactly correct. I am going to machine the shaft for clearance.

Boss, I'm 99.9% sure I'm good to the rocker shafts but will prime this time!
