Putting together my 318, machine shop work is all done, been preping the block and parts measuring etc. Combo is:
, '73 318 .040 over
, stock rods, stock crank
, mildon standard vol oil pump
, keith black (flat tops) 167-0.04
, machine shop balanced rotating assembly
, comp cam xe284H (used w/15,000 miles or so matching and placemarked used lifters) specs: 240-i/246-e duration @ .050 110.0 lobe sep .507-i/.510-e lift.
, Stock rockers
, plan on ordering Brian's IMM RHS heads (59cc's if possible)
, TTI headers
, Edl AirGap intake
, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-1406/?gclid=CNj8wduByLMCFWrZQgodeiUAqw have this carb, used, lying around that i plan to start it out with... not my faveorite carb.
Asked my machinist to deck it to 0 deck height, was at stock deck height, but after he lightly milled it to straighten the deck the kb-167s were already a hair out of the hole when mocked up???...
10.6-1 Static (8.12-1 Dynamic) CR goal on pump gas. I think thats it. Going in my 73 Dart 727 3000 stall manual valve body trans, 8 3/4 rear w/3.55 gears.
Now I'm trying to make this a mean street machine that i can take to the track on occasion. I'm hoping i could get some input on the cam i have. I used it in the 318 prior to rebuild and liked it, even though i was running it with horrible compression with 915 heads. open to suggestions of other cams to fit the combo. Now for some questions i have: the cam I have uses the 995-16 (dual springs) would the 26918 beehive springs that come with the IMM heads work with this cam in place of the duals? I compared the spring rates a while back and couldnt decide. I lost 2 clips on 2 lifters that hold the plunger in, is it ok to run without clips? I appreciate any comments, and please if anything looks funny on my combo feel free to point it out.
