So I removed my iron intake manifold off of my engine yesterday (swapping to LD4B intake) and was looking online at the casting number 4100340.2 and it says it's for a 318 engine, are these intakes worth anything? I was under the impression I had a 273 with stock components, so now I'm wondering if there's a 318 in the car or if this was just a mod at some point.

You have to remember how old our cars and engines are. They could have gone through a lot of owners and changes.

That intake was available on 318 and 360 engines around '79 and/or '80 that had the 4 barrel option. I've heard stories that it may have been used with 318 and 360 heads, but I can't confirm it. It would be interesting to see what heads you have on your engine as well.

OEM Mopar small block dual plane intakes were decent intakes. They just weigh a lot and you're limited to a spread bore. Adapters tend to hurt flow/efficiency.

I was able to get a couple numbers from the engine, I looked under the valve cover and got the number 3418915B which look to be 340 heads, but on the drivers side below the head I get what looks like 33810339 which I can't get to match up to anything.

Also is it normal to have exhaust crossover heat up port to be showing with an aftermarket intake?

Will the LD4B intake work ok with the 340 heads? I didn't look up these numbers til after I had put the intake on.

Yes, it's not bad to have the outer exhaust crossover port showing when the intake is in.

The LD4B will run great on there, the only manifold that will be better is the LD340...

Heads can be 340 or 360. The heat crossover may be the "U" which is actually surrounding the actual port that the gasses flow through. Block should have a casting date on it which could help narrow things down. Your number is too long and I didn't see anything close.

See if this old thread helps:

Look familiar krazykuda? lol

I got under there with a mirror and I was able to read out 418496236 which I think may have a 3 in front, if this motor is a 360 it's kind of weak and in need of some help, maybe getting a LD340 intake instead of the LD4B and some headers will do wonders. 1971-89 360

Oh for GOD'S sake. The engine size is IN the casting number on the BLOCK right above the starter. Why in the HELL don't yall tell him THAT? Just look up on the block above the starter and you will see the raised casting number. It will begin with whatever engine size you have. Really simple guys. I don't understand why yall have to F everything up explaining something to somebody.

buncha farggin morons.

You won't gain that much from going to a LD340 from a LD4B. It just matches the ports better to give just a little more than the LD4B...

Stories? The cars are fairly cheap. Many are sold under $1000. 1984 down has a Thermoquad, 1985-up has a Quadrajet. They had leanburn. They made 318s with 360 heads. From 1981 to 1989 they were Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth's police car entrance in the R and M body cars- 1980 offered the same engine likely also with 360 heads. This was partially due to the 360 not being offered in cars after 1980. The 2 barrel 360 was dropped following 1983, so 4 barrel intakes from the '80s are extremely common. After that, the 360s had the .410 lift 2 barrel cam and they were also dogs.

318 never came with a 318 4bbl intake, unless it was a later '84 ish E-48 option 318 with a 360 4bbl intake and 360 heads. 273's came with a 4bbl single plane. even thought the 360 heads were rather low in compression, it ran pretty good.
