"In a previous" area, I used to fiddle around with manual focus lenses. This was quite a hobby for some of us for awhile. I was in St Vinnies today on a whim, and there, in the bottom of the camera/ related display, is a Tamron Adaptall-2 28mm f2.5. Bought it for the incredible sum of 16.96

Tamron made Adaptall and Adaptall-2 lenses back in the day for manual cameras, the idea being that a dealer could stock "one set" of lenses, and then the lens mount (the Adaptall part) went onto the rear of the lens, bought to fit whatever your camera is. So the lens per se doesn't fit any camera at all, but rather, must have an Adaptall mount to fit

This one came with a Pentax K electronic adapter, which by itself is worth a buck or two, because it will fit newer Pentax bayonet mount cameras and will "talk" to the camera regarding aperture setting. (Not focus, that part is manual)

NOW I have to find My Canon EF mount adapter so I can play with the thing. This lens is in really nice shape and in fact may be new

Here is a website someone maintains with specs on the Tamron stuff. There is the predecessor, "Adapt-o-matic" which is the same idea but much different, and then Adaptall, and the newer Adaptall-2. Some of these lenses are not much worth dragging home, and some are pretty fair depending on what you paid. I still have a number of them around here

Not a superior lens, but certainly worth the 17 bucks!!

The green numerals are feet, and the 1 foot mark is coming into view. What you cannot see is, this thing will focus clear down to 8--10 INCHES from the subject

Just screwin around This is a lens off an old junk Polaroid 110A that I mounted on a bellows.....the lens itself has no focusing system, and the lens must be the same distance from the Canon sensor as it was originally from the Polaroid film

And below, a test shot with that lens and with a flash of an old radio or two, an old Montgomery Ward "Silvertone" radio

I bet you were like a kid in a candy store when you found that.

Nice find. Back in the day when manufacturers didn't think alike, Wait, they still don't.. LOL (Apple and PC)
I used to love photography back in the day. 35mm, 2 1/4 and 4X4. I got a digital slr for Christmas and have messed a bit. I still get a charge out of capturing shots with simple low res cameras or even cell phones. The windmill is my smart phone and the lightening is my old flip phone. Kodak was a pioneer.

I got a Pentax DSLR (2). You wanna off that adapt-all K-mount adapter? I scored a f1.4 Tak in M42 screw mount and hurriedly bought a screw mount adapter to use it. Damn thing is barely useful with a wide open focal depth of about a 1/4 inch! Screw mounts are almost 100% manual. I like Pentax because you can find super cheap Sears branded K-mount lenses for peanuts, plus the bodies have in camera image stabilization for even old school lenses. Sony Alphas can use old Minolta lenses too.

OK is your 1.4 an Adaptall-2? You want to trade that screw mount for the Pentax mount?

No the f1.4 is the radioactive thorium coated Super-Takumar in M42.

Got my Chinese egag aftermarket pirated knock off Tamron Adaptall with "AF confirm chip" (which allows you to manually focus the manual lens, and the camera tells you when you are in / near focus. Just had time enough tonight to snap this from ?? 2 ft away I guess. I just used my cheap little lightweight Canon SL-1 This is handheld, and I took no time with it. One is the full frame, scaled to fit the website, the cropped flower head is full size out of the camera 400 ISO, 1/90 shutter, don't know the final F stop. This doesn't show in the software as it's not an electronic lens. This lens ALSO does not work well in "AV mode. You have to diddle the settings manually

When I get more time I'll get out the tripod and 7D, which allows focusing with the magnified "live view" screen
