guys, I just got instructions on how toinstall my procomp distributor, I understand there is no gear but where is the shaft supposed to lock into or set in. I just got my engine back from machine shop, something is missing right. What can I do now? I hope my photos show, I picked to lowest resolution.

This would have been better if you'd added it to your distributor thread.

1--The "thing" "down there" is the distributor bushing. That one looks like it needs replaced

2--You are missing the distributor intermediate shaft, which I already posted a photo of on the other thread. This is a one piece shaft with a gear that mates with the cam gear and has a drive slot on top to drive the distributor. The shaft goes down through that bushing and engages the oil pump

It's time you started reading a shop manual. Down load one or three:

You better contact that machine shop. They would have some explaining to do. The bushing that is in your motor looks like it went through a hot tank. This should have been the first thing to be installed.

After installation they usually need to get reamed to size. Where are the shavings going to go now. To do this correctly the pan and pump should come off. I have seen them replaced on used motors in the car but never after you just paid for the motor to be rebuilt.

I would never install one now I would take it back to the machine shop with the pan and pump off so they do it right. The oil pump drive should also be installed clocked correctly.

Makes ya wonder about the rest of their work??????? Good luck with that motor. Who did it? so I can warn people
