I see the same harmonic balancers advertised for 273, 318, 340 and wondering if the same application fits a '72 318? Thank you.
April 1972 on the 340 change.yes. all 318's are internally balanced as well as 273's.
forged crank 340's are also internal (up to 1971)
Several different ones were used, but, they will interchange with minor mods. '69 and earlier have one pulley bolt offset, and the timing slot is on the passenger side. The '70-1 also has the one offset bolt, but, they moved the timing slot to the driver's side. In '72 they went to the even bolt pattern and kept the timing slot on the driver's side. With a rat tail file, you can elongate the pulley hole to work with either setup. The timing slot would have to added or remarked to use with whichever timing indication you have.I see the same harmonic balancers advertised for 273, 318, 340 and wondering if the same application fits a '72 318?
