Is there some kind of boot over a console shifter

Just took the Demon for its first test run today with the new console. After about 10 minutes the console felt like 250 degrees! Is there supposed to be a boot over the shifter under the console? The ashtray wasn't in and when I opened the door it felt like a hair dryer on high heat. Anyone know what I can do? Thanks

yea...put down some hush mat and then some of that Lowe's metallic bubble wrap (Insulation found in the water heater department).

Look for any holes that may be open to below and plug them as well.

Without insulation the hump is like an oven.

It got so hot you can see where the 3M glued carpet is starting to come off. I'm wondering if I should take the old nonconsole boot and put that back on then bolt the console over it? There is no way MaMopar made it this way.

mine has a upper and lower boot plus I had an ultra leather boot cover made to cover the crappy aftermarket boot in the console that started to rip within months of installing

I do not have insulation under my carpet and the console does not get hot like yours

I don't have any photos but mine has a lower boot to insulate the floor from the console. toolman
