Great Job Mike. ANd the 65 VIN is working Whooo hooo

Yep. I noticed today that there's on Dodge & Plymouth for 64 & 65, no Chrysler. I have to add that.

Here's a few more things that will be added to the next version:

1. If you go to a user's profile and click on the "view vehicles" link, or click on the "vehicles" link on a user's post, you're brought to a page that has all that user's vehicles entered into the registry. The sort function doesn't work at that point, I'm gonna fix that.

2. Add an option to the view pages that will allow you to contact the owner of a vehicle, with the topic of the PM or e-mail pre-filled in with the vehicle info.

3. Add a filter to the main display page, so you can look at (for example) Dusters only, or 1974 cars only, etc.

4. Maybe add the logic to verify the validity of the VIN. I noticed that at least one entry in the registry has a VIN that's one digit too short (this one: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/vehicle_registry.php?mode=view&id=1 )

5. Perhaps add an option to link to a photo gallery page that has pictures of the vehicle...?

Any other suggestions?

All cool ideas.

Is it possable to make an option so they can hide the entire thing or atleast the vin# from the public.Kinda a for admin use only. This way I can still check them out but people dont need to worry about their vin # listed online. I think it may scare some people away.

I think people with rare cars may be worried about being tracked down.

I would think that the assembly # would be the important part of the VIN, right? I could add an option to hide that part of the VIN, so it'd be displayed as "XXXXXX" instead of the actual number.

Or I could add an option to hide the entire VIN. Which would make more sense?

Right now, you may have noticed that you (as the admin) can see everbody's contact information. For anybody besides the admin, the "hide owners information" option is honored, if somebody checks that option when entering their info, "(private)" is displayed instead of the contact info.

Yeah if you make it so you can hide the ***. # I think that would be good. I forget I can see things others cant :D

Ok. Soon... Maybe tonight, we'll see how it goes. If my mother agrees to baby-sit tonight, you're SOL. Otherwise I'll be home coding. ;-)

The sitter (my mother) will be here at 7. So you're out of luck for tonight. Maybe tomorrow...

Version 0.0.2 of the Vehicle Registry and version 0.0.4 of the VIN Decoder have been installed (they go hand-in-hand).

Fixes/Enhancements in this version:

1. When viewing a single user's vehicles, either from the "vehicles" option in a post or from the profile page, the sort function didn't work properly. Fixed!

2. Added an option to contact a user when viewing a single vehicle entry. Down on the bottom is "PM", "E-Mail", "YIM", etc...

3. Added logic to validate the VIN length during entry of a vehicle into the registry. If a particular year's VIN is supposed to be 13 digits, and you try to enter a VIN that's not 13 digits, an error message will be displayed and you'll have to correct it.

4. Corrected an HTML linking issue. If you linked to a registry page, but had the URL wrong (for example - had some trailing characters), an SQL error message would be displayed. Now the incoming URL is validated and cleaned up.

5. Added a timestamp field to the database, and it's filled when the vehicle is entered into the registry. This will be used in a feature due in version 0.0.3 (see below).

6. Added the option to have the assembly numbers of the VIN hidden - the numbers are changed to "X" if this is enabled. EVERY vehicle that was in the database prior to this update has this enabled, so if you want to have your complete VIN shown you'll have to go back to your entry and change this field from "No" to "Yes".

7. Added logic to clean up the VIN when it's entered... Spaces and garbage characters are removed.

8. Fixed the "auto refresh" function on the "Entry updated", "Entry added", "Entry deleted" pages. You're given the option of clicking a link to go back to the registry. Even if you don't, after 3 seconds you'll be taken back there. This is the same as after you post a message in the forums.

Coming in version 0.0.3:

1. Adding an option to show the latest entries on the main page of the forum, plus on the portal (if installed).

2. Adding an admin interface, to allow some customizing by the admin, plus allowing for the enabled/disabling of the data in the VIN decoding database (what years/manufacturers to include, etc).

3. Adding a "filter" function to the main Registry display page, so you can view only Dusters, or only 1973 cars, etc.

As always, if you have any problems/questions/suggestions/extra 100 dollar bills, please either post a message in this thread, PM or e-mail me.
