just got an email from grundys ins., they raised the yearly premium from $228 to $ 476. they renigged on how much it would be covered for, and how much I could drive it. I think they think, it`s too much like a race car. screw em ! the bad thing about it is, I had inquired about ins. at a place in tex. that covers classics. they had sent me emails, but I deleted them cause I thot I had ins. w/ grundys. now I don`t remember who they were !

Also check with J.C. Taylor in Upper Darby Pa. I been using em for 40yrs.

I use American Collector Car. You get a discount from them if you also have USAA insurance for other vehicles.

Here are my experiences. I used American Collector Car at first. Rates were very good (as military, I got discount through USAA), but coverage was a joke. Pretty much only covered if you were at a car show, driving to or from a car show, or taking a Sunday drive. NO coverage if the car is left unattended in a parking lot for even a quick run into the store. Plus there were serious mileage limits. Then I switched to Hagarty. They had better coverage, but there were still usage limits and after a few years, their rates went up every year. About 5 years ago, they went from about (and I'm going from memory), $250 to $350 in one year. Then I switched to Grundy's. Started out at about $200, and the annual increases have been reasonable. Plus, they say, "Drive your car! Enjoy it. Leave it in a Restaurant parking lot. Drive it to work occasionally. That's why you have it!" I only hope my next bill (in June) isn't an unpleasant surprise.

I have American Collectors. As of this moment I have nothing but good to say about them.
I hit a damn deer on my way home from a car wash. I was planing to attend a show the next day and wham!
The damage is minimal and deer won't ever get in the road again, but I haven't caught a moments flak about the situation.
Hagerty's made me feel like I couldn't enjoy my cars. Then the kicker was they jacked my rate up on me. For no good reason!

On a different note, I insure mine through the Manitoba Government run monopoly, just like a regular car. It costs me $450Can, for 12 months. But I only insure it in the summer so get nearly half back. And I have all-purpose use and no mileage limit whatever.
The catch is, it's a 48 year old car, and just about any ding will relegate it to the scrap heap. So the onus is on me to stay out of trouble, or fix it myself if I don't, or can't. That's why we have spare parts, right. But I am covered in the event that I hit someone else.
Well, so far so good, 16 years and only minor dings.
Of course I built the darn thing to be abused, and abused it is. It was never a trailer queen, even tho when fresh, she was a beauty. That lasted all of about 6 hours........when I rumpled the fresh, soft paint, while backing it into the carport.Yup, that mark is still there to this day, along with many others.

We don't have a plan like that here in the states.

I have ANPAC Chrome. $15,000 agreed value on my 66 and $20,000 on my Swinger. I believe there's like a 10,000 mile/year limit and drive it where you want. A small parts coverage for your garage stash of parts, towing , and repair shop of your choice. I have my Home insurance with them and without a claim, I received a $350 discount this year.
