Hello all
I am looking for a 360 block for a warm street Dart (67-72), looking toward stroker. I currently have LA Eheads and RPM airgap, Ehead ARP hardware. I would like to stay with the LA roller block to use the stuff I have. Questions are:
Years of LA roller 360? 89 to 91 only?
Do they have the taller lifter bores like a Magnum?
Do they use Magnum cams and electric fuel pump, or mechanical? Or roller LA only cam?
Can I use stock Eheads and springs with a mild/warm roller cam?
Any oiling mods I should consider? Do they use LA oiling?
Looking to hit 500 hp. 12's in 1/4 would make me smile. Faster would make me smile more. I know this is possible with a 360 but I am leaning heavily to stroker for streetability.
I am not fond of high stall converters and short gears. I want a somewhat warm street car I can race, not a race car that sorta can go on the street.
Stock type TC (5 or 6 speed also an option), 3.23 gears or even into the 2.XX range. 6000 RPM is more than sufficient for me, I tend to drive everything like a diesel anyway.

Thanks all

Eric

Hi,

got one of these blocks, too. They have the taller lifter bores to support the longer roller lifter. Don´t know exactly from when to when they were made - mine is a 91.

Usually they use a LA-roller cam similar to the LA Flat tappets (lengthwise), mechanical fuel pump is no problem with LA Front Cover. Comp for example has got some of these cams. Look at the XR...HR series for example. I got the XR286HR, very impressive to me.

Oiling is like every LA-Engine. You can do some oiling mods, i think there´s a sticky here in the SB Forum. Personally i think these mods are not absolutely necessary for a street engine - but should not hurt either.

Edelbrock says the Heads are good for .575" Lift afaik - i´d talk to the cam manufacturer about the springs.

One of the members here I know has an 88 roller 360.I have read,as far back as 86/87.Read that on Moparts a year or so ago.

One of the best factory production blocks to get. Can oil either way, shaft or pushrod. The factory hyd rollers flat out work well with proper valve springs. My guess you won't get 500hp from the ede's on a 360 unless you have them worked over a bit.

500hp and only 12's... unless it weighs in at 3800+. 500 should get you close to or into the 10's with a good working car that's 3300 or less.
