Larger Series tire for the front ?

hi ive been reading thru some of the bigger threads and ive been noticing alot of people using a taller tireon the fron then the rear, for example.


Front
245 / 50 / 17

Rear
245 / 40 / 17

Can anyone tell me why some people do this, or what benefit it has to the apperance of the car.

Most are 245/45/17 and 275/40/17 because they are the same height. The 275/40/17 are wider than the front.

I did the same; wider ones in back (17 X 8s) v. narrower in front (17 X 7).
Car rides great, but I no longer carry a spare tire because of the difference in sizes.
I'll just call for the hook if I get a flat.
