I believe she is waiting for a crazy offer on the Mustang because it has been 2 months already since she told me they were ready to sell. I would have waited but 59 El Camino don’t come up for sale a lot at 5 grandDamn! I hate when people do that, as it’s just plain rude! Or chicken ****….
In my heart of hearts I was hoping you’d get the Mach 1 and then “flip” it to me, thus making some quick money, but it just wasn’t meant to be. And that happens….
But that El Camino looks like it could a great project, and if you don’t post updates here (and why would you?), please let us know where you’re going to post updates, as I’d really like to follow along!
Jim
I get that! ‘69 Mustangs are pretty common, but ‘59 El Camino’s? It was factory 283 powerglide. Not sure yet what I am doing. We have a 1974 60.000 mile 250 6 cylinder and a TH350 we might put in for now just to move it around. I was thinking 348 or 409 W to be year correct.dual bolt pattern chrome reverse? that's a plus!
good to see the floor is replaced. a friend bought one in high school that needed the floor...there was none! so, one night, I went over and we had steak on the grille and corn on the cob and beer. a little too much. he was sitting on the rocker and tipped over backwards. took a while to get him out. oh yeah, good times. I hope you have as many with your new project without falling over. Is it gonna be a small block or maybe a W engine? something like a 409 block with a 454 crank?
I've used apple cidar vinegar for quite a few jukebox parts with light surface rust, and it works great. Just don't leave it on there too long...Working on the 63 Fury today and I'm using vinegar to take the rust off.

I did a test spot yesterday and let it sit overnight, and this morning took a wire wheel over it and took the rust right off, except for some heavy pitted areas.I've used apple cidar vinegar for quite a few jukebox parts with light surface rust, and it works great. First time using vinegar for me and really works well and it's not expensive. Also my garage smells like a pickle factory.I've used apple cidar vinegar for quite a few jukebox parts with light surface rust, and it works great. Just don't leave it on there too long...

Sounds about right.I did a test spot yesterday and let it sit overnight, and this morning took a wire wheel over it and took the rust right off, except for some heavy pitted areas.
I'll remember that Jim so thanks for the info.Sounds about right.
I forgot I had some small parts soaking in a bucket once, and they all came out black. Not good....
