Not bad Fred. Haven't been feeling the best the last week but getting better. Stupid stomach problems over the Winter. Hope you've had a good day Fred.
Took my wife out to lunch at Costco today. Lots of free stuff to eat.
Been there done that I like Costco and after sampling everything it's hot dog time. lol
Sorry your stomach is giving you problems Mark get better soon buddy.

I got sucked into that when I got home from visiting the hospital. You're right.

Honestly I had forgotten all that he had done. I met him in Cuba many years ago. He was extremely good to military when he met them.
How long you you in Cuba Jeff? Is it nice there or not.

I'm fine folks, so is the wife.

Thank you for the concerns. I mean it!

My nephew mom,( not blood nephew ) so not a sister, if having a whole lot of issues and she 's in for tests! Went to visit, brought good coffee and Krispy Kremes.

Life is good here except for the Polaris being a PIA! You can't troubleshoot much on an EFI 4 wheeler!

New plug, charge the battery cuss it out! I may have to take it in tomorrow and pay some snot nosed kid with the service software way too much for very little! Sorry, I'm just bitching!

Is the wife retarded too?

My buddy just turned me on to the Russian Tea recipe. Man that stuff is good... with whiskey. Kind of sugary for me though.

I've been in Cuba probably a dozen times off and on Fred. Very nice snorkeling and fishing. Only allowed to set foot on very little of the island. We used to fly down there alot. Sometimes for storm relief, sometimes for stop over going to S America or Haiti. Cheap rum!

Did they make you jump out of those flying machines?

With all respect BP, Are you frickin out of your mind?

Why the hell would you jump out of a perfect good aircraft?

I have watched a whole lot of people jump out! MOST of their parachutes opened!

I did go down a FAST rope once to experience it. A FAST rope is a thick rope you hung out of the plane and infantry (Grunts) would slide down the rope without any attachments. Just welders gloves. That's a way to get troops out quickly in an area where you cannot land.

Here's a video of practicing:

Looks like I will stay inside you can keep your rope.lol

Alright guys, I need a little advice here.

These first 2 pictures are some corrosion on the L door hinge area and on the L qtr where there was a break in the paint.

I have a product called Rust Mort by SEM that has been bragged.up quite a bit. It does not seem feasible to cut these areas out and replace them. Besides some spots are in seriously difficult areas to do so!

This is the area just behind the front radiator support and shows the original paint in the spot welds. Do I need to get that perfectly shiny steel before I apply epoxy. I am going to fill them with filler and smooth it anyway. I will get after it better If there is any doubt.
Today I ordered small pressure cups to app!y epoxy in smaller areas.

Anybody who has been on a Military boat has heard of Ospho. Same ****. Its acid. Epoxy does not like acid. I would sandblast it best I could and epoxy it. That epoxy will hold down what little rust might be left as long as it cant see moisture again.

Though any anal bodyman would have to get all of that old paint off of there.

I didnt read your post very well. I missed the filler part. Give me a bit to rethink this.

I agree with BP and just another thought after our done sand blasting if you use
silica sand you might want to sand it with sand paper before bondo or primer. I have heard that silica leaves a residue on the metal.

Not welded BP. There has been some braze, looks like brass, at the top. It will be clean.

That is the very front where the core support wraps around to get spot welded.

I will get the spot welds clean too. Obviously there are small lips and seams where it ALL can't be gotten out.

I will epoxy in chunks where I re-sand with 40 or 80 grip, prep and tack rag.

I have some black oxide to use and a hand blaster.

I won't do that until I get the small pressure cups for the 3M Accuspray gun I bought.

Boy it's nice having you guys to lean on. Thanks!

I would make sure the metal around the door striker is strong enough to handle a door getting shut. And will need be when you put new door gaskets in to get them to "fit to the jamb.

I struggle with the Idea of putting filler over the primer because by the time you sand the filler, all of the primer is gone around the filler and now you need to prime again anyway so why not do the filler first and prime once. I'm pretty old school. I think the idea of epoxying before filler came about as to get protection on the freshly abraded metal during the long process of a restoration. It boils down to this.
No matter what you put on the bare steel, it needs no be freshly abraded and clean including plastic filler (bondo).
That Bondo will hold down small rust pits too. In my head anyway.
