Well, plug and aim and play. These can be aimed using the "VOR" specs at that page, or with the olde-tyme Hoppy aimers as shown in this funkatronic video:



Other than the cannot-be-skipped-because-super-important aim step, there is nothing you have to do other than install and drive.

If you remove and replace the lamps, even with the same ones you removed (let alone different ones!), the aim won't carry over after replacement.

So yeah, you've gotta do it with the new lamps.
 
ordered friday from rock auto and came today. they feel like a nice piece. now i just have to install them and see what kind of improvement they are. i think they will look a bit goofy in the car since its very stock looking but if they help at night I'll live with the goofy look.

so installed the lights. nothing special. regular headlight install. i like the whiter light. the GE Nighthawks with relays had that yellowish look like most standard headlights. should be interesting to see how they light things up once on the street. these pics in the garage are hard to tell anything but the color really. they do look goofy in the car but if they light better I'll live with it

i haven't checked adjustment yet. when my buddy gets home from drag week i'll get the tool from him.

The LED high beams look like they'll light up the overhead highway signs. Probably good in some states, maybe too good in states that maintain their infrastructure.
I'll be interested in the actual driving feedback. Let us know what you see (besides the pictures) such as color rendition, which seems pretty good at least in the garage. Maybe how well you can see animals and such. Reflective things sure pop with LED, thats why I mentioned the signs.

That's the problem with some areas, with some of the signage in these rural areas, these newer signs are capable of so much light return it masks a large portion of everything behind them. The brighter & higher the lamp, the worse it is, an elephant could be 40ft. behind it & You wouldn't know it until You were 60ft. from it.
The plus side, there are a lot of old/diseased/damaged trees along/over these roads, those Phillips look like You could spot trouble above a lot sooner.....& maybe a few 'possums hangin' out....
BTW, I messaged SSD inquiring about fog lamps with a lot of reach for this reason, and looking for round ones that fit the look of My '64 GT's....turns out the factory units in '17 Pacificas, later Dakotas & some other models fits the bill.
