I didn't see much (any?) follow-up to TT5.9mag's respone above, but I think he's spot on.
3000 stall, even on a tight converter will do precisely what for this combination?
For comparison, I used to run a 238/
244@0.050" lift cam (Hughes HE3844AL) hydraulic flat tappet in a 360 motor. 4.10 rear end, 727, and going from 2800 to 4000 (9.5" Dynamic) made a "Day & Night" difference. That's in a 3600 lbs car.
OK, but that's about 20deg more duration at 0.050" (compared to OP's 218/224 @ .050” cam), which really needed the extra stall.
Further on, currently in my 408 W2 stroker I run a CompCams hydraulic roller (XR292, but on 112 LSA) and that has the converter stalling at about 4200-4300.
Soooo....back to the OP's combo: didn't see any gearing listed (sorry if I missed), but a 3000 stall converter will blow those tires off and well, smoke show aside, you're not going fast anywhere!!!
