Lifters

A lot of people think that noisy hyd lifters at higher rpms are due to pump up. Sometimes that is the case but it is often due to the oil becoming aerated from crankcase windage.
Roller lifters are being expected to endure multiples of the original force that H-D designed them for in 1929.

Is it any wonder they fail??

I would switch to solid lifters, with 0.006-8" lash [ no more ] at operating temperature. Also, spend the extra $$ & buy bushed lifters & avoid the possibility of an engine full of needle rollers.....
