The 99 was the paint code when that color came out. It was a mid year color and later they changed it to F6 I believe. It is an awesome color when its fresh. I am very surprised that it is a post.

Wow, I never thought so many people would tell me to buy that RR. I am in the Army, dont have adequate storage or time for such an undertaking. Wish I did, but I just dont. Never know when I might have to move either which poses another set of headaches. Here are the fender tag and VIN from the dash. Maybe someone can decipher these. I could see the ground through the front passenger floorboard. The airgrabber sections themselves had some rust holes on the underside big enough to put 2 fingers through. The car had 1984 inspection stickers. It also has what appears to be a correct for the time, bumper/frame mounted hitch on the rear. Rotted air-shocks and a dual exhaust could be seen. The owner said he couldn't get the trunk open. To be honest, I was afriad to get inside or under the car too much for fear of what might slither out and bite!
how much for the dead bugs?

I need the horn button from the Dart's Tuff Wheel. Would he be willing to get rid of that?

"Thats a rim blow steering wheel on there, anywhere from $125.00-250.00 depending on the condition of the spokes, the woodgrain, how many crackas in the rim and the condition of the trim ribbon around the inside and outside. If the wheel is sweet, I've seen them go for $700.00-800.00."
The steering wheel in the Dart caught my eye as well but it has what appears to be a cheap slip-on cover around the grip area. I don't believe he knows what he has there. The aluminum of the spokes looked real good though. I know the seats have been redone, but they sure beat the crap out of what we have which are dried out, ripped, and you sink to the floor when you sit down on them.

the dart looked like it had a rim blow wheel with a cover over it.

a scamp is a valiant with a 71 dart shell and back half.

Skip the dart interior....buy the road runner QUICK!

save the runner and talk him out of the dart too.

Ask him why do you want to let a car rot just because your kid wrecked in it?

Stick some money in his face and smile.

then watch him sick the dobbies on ya and tell ya to get fk'd for prying into his personal matters....:profilel:

Shoot,if you don't buy the Roadrunner....I will. I'd snag the car in a heartbeat if I were you.

Wow, someone came to your house and offered up that RR!
That's a great story to tell, but the ending needs to be "I bought it!"
Worst case scenario, you buy it and let it sit outside at your house.

Really! Buy the RR, flip it quick, and double your money.

Offer him $300 for all of the Dart stuff.

That extra $2500 will go a long ways on your Dart!

man that is one way cool RR with all of those options get it!!!! heck he might even throw in a dobe they look good in a dart

Yeah, there's a lot of dough just sittin' there in that Roadrunner......WAY out and beyond $2500..........The air grabber, all original and cleaned up.....doors, buckets, literally countless parts......OR to put away and restore slowly.....

Wow.........GREAT deal for someone.

That's a real find,a 'Runner with that many options. It also has the Y14 code indicating that it was a sold car which means someone ordered it that way which would likely make it one of a kind.
What makes it especially desirable is the mid year special paint,4 speed, performance axle package, air grabber, buckets, console, etc.
Someone will buy that up in a heartbeat and restore it.

Let me throw in a couple more positives to buying that RR, it has the original HiPo exhaust manifolds, heater hose fender bracket (no big deal except it shows little tampering to the car) and check the Radiator number and report back to us, Im guessing a Hemi/Six Pac number in which would make that a High$$$ item too!! 2949054 is what you looking for on the rad.

I say buy that Runner!! It is so the sexiest and most loaded Runner for 2500$. hahaha, id ride my bike to work for the next 3 months just to buy it and restore it if i could instead of having a running car

That's true as well, the fender tag has the code for the 26" rad so it's probably the correct original unit which is really rare for a non-air 383 car.
It seems like whoever ordered the car went with heavy duty everything.
Going by the originality of the engine compartment and console/shifter,it likely has a matching numbers drivetrain as well.
Would be a magazine worthy car when restored, hopefully someone on here can snag it and keep us updated on a resto.

Well today my son and I spent some quality time pulling out the interior from the 1971 Dart to put into our 74 Dart. When we got there I mentioned to the owner that I wished I had brought a weed-eater to knock the over-growth down around the base of the car since we needed underneath to unbolt the seats. He told me to look out for wasps, black widdows, brown recluse, and rattlers before coming back with his mower and getting as close as he could to the car, scalping the ground around the car. The only thing I had to look out for under the car was red ants and I was grateful that the bolts came off easily.
First bit of business was lowering the windows since it was already in the 80's at 1030 in the morning. Then we set to removing the steering wheel which ended up being an original "Tuff-Wheel". Then we removed the front seat which came out suprising easy. The only thing we had to look out for were the ants which did get a few bites in.
After removing the front seat we moved to the rear seat the the "package tray" under the rear window. Our current package tray didn't have speaker openings so getting this one was great and it had backing and wasn't too badly sun faded and water damaged. We also pulled all four arm rests of which, three had ashtrays, (one had been re-upolstered without one). We removed the rear window trim and the glove box door as well as the Pioneer am/fm CD player, dome light lense, lighter, driver's door sill plate, and the drivers side seat belt, (passenger side was faded tan).
Once we got home we wiped everything down with water soaked rags to remove the dirt and mold. Then we went over everything with Armor-All which the assorted pieces soaked right up but looked real good afterwards. We did find a tag under the seat that said the seat covers were from "Legendary" which was a plus since they are a good reputable muscle car restoration source. The date on the tag indicated they were recovered back in 1998.
The carpet was faded way to bad to replace ours and the headliner would not match ours since it was made of vynil and ours is a board type material and our 74 uses "sail panels" on each side of the rear window and the 71 doesn't have these pieces. We also didn't mess with the dash pad as we already have a good one which we will color black that came from the 1975 4-door at the "pick-and-pull".
So I guess the next thing we will do is order a carpet set, headliner, and "sail panels". Plus we will order the mounting kit and horn button for the "Tuff Wheel". We will use, and will have to change the color on the dash pad we acquired from the 1975, 4-door Dart. Once this is all done, the interior will be nearly completely re-done and should look 100% better than it does now which you can see in the final pictures.
You should hear my son talk about his car to his friends. Today one of his friends asked him what he was doing on a Saturday, while we went to watch one of his friends play summer baseball. He went on to tell them of his "74 Dodge Dart" that he is working on and how we were going to replace the interior with parts we had found. He has learned a great deal about cars and their care. He knows alot more than his friends, that's for sure!
Enjoy the pictures, there will be more coming soon as we replace the dried out / faded interior that is there now.

Good stuff, I'd say you won over the ants because you go the stuff home! Glad to hear everything was reasonably easy to get out.

Here are pictures of this afternoons clean-up with water and then the treatment of Armor-All, plus pictures of the interior of the car right now that we will replace.

I will answer the PM's this evening. I told him there was interest in the RR from some of my "connections" and that they were in other states, he seemed suprised. He hesitated about me passing on his contact information but eventually said OK. I won't be the middle-man here, so once you make contact with this guy, (I don't even know his last name) all wheeling and dealing is between the two of you. He hinted that the price might go up. Good luck and good hunting.

That steering wheel is a Rim Blow there my friend. The Tuff Wheel would have a foam padded rim, the rim blow is simulated woodgrain. I see it has a couple of cracks, but there is a couple good places to get that restored. There are also a couple of do-it-yourself articles in Mopar Muscle or Mopar Action on repairing those. You did grab the mounting collar for the wheel didn't you??? Can't mount the wheel with out it!!! Nice find on the interior, but I don't see the RR in the driveway!???!! Geof
