So I'm curious, does the casting date on the rear come close to the early build of the car ie last 6 of the vin? My vin is 305604 and was built 2.26 69

Well if your 69 is a very than most likely it has a sway bar. If it's not a vert nor a perf. Pkg car and has a sway bar than what I thought may be correct. That they all came with sway bars, just not the heavy duty one

Both my 67 fback and 69 vert are Formula S cars. Sorry George, I misunderstood your question. 741 in my 67 and 489 in my 69.

Theres a 69 yellow fastback barracuda on ebay that was built in August of 68 and the last 6 is 106258. Not sure how many the built per day but you can figure yours was close to that date

Is the casting date the smaller numbers below the 2077041 and in front of the 26? There are some smaller numbers there, but can't tell if it just says 222 or if there is a number in front and/or behind the 222? It's hard to tell, even getting up close and blowing up the pics if they are numbers. The 222 is easy to see, but in front and behind it looks like just raised metal, hard to tell if they are numbers or not.

        Thanks again,
        Dan

Dan heres away bar(0.8790" dia) and 489 from my 69. Those mark's by the smaller numbers are screw/rivet mark's from the tag in the casting. You can see them clearly on mine. Your #'s are 222.
        Sorry bout the dust lol.

Here is something else that may apply. found it on Mymopar.com

Any 8-3/4" center section may be interchanged for another as an entire assembly, with the exception of center sections manufactured prior to model year 1964 (See Section 1: "Thrust Block Variations").

The two Sure Grip types can be interchanged between the carriers if the matching differential axle bearings are retained. The outside diameter of the cups are the same between the '741'/'742' and the '489'; the inner cone differs.

Hey thanks again for the great information. Sadly though, I think I'm reaching the point where I'm going to put it up for sale. I still have house projects going on and I need to re-restore my '72 Fury III with 48,500 miles on it. It was pretty close to being a show car and surely turned heads whenever I took it out. Now, that has sat too and I need to go back over it. I actually have 2 build sheets, fender tag and a couple of records of its past. That one is stored over my son's house under a carport, where my barracuda was in my dad's garage, but got moved out for me, which I found out when I went to look it over and get pics.
It's a really, really hard choice as the Barracuda was my first car and a 69 340S fastback has been my dream car since I sold the first Barracuda back in high school. However, I learned to drive on early 70's Furys and the one I have is very close to how it left the showroom floor. If I had that kind of documentation for the cuda, and it showed it was an S, then I'd keep it and sell the Fury (at a big loss). Pics of Fury below,
Got some thinking to do, but I feel it going to have to be the Barracuda go. Sucks.

              Hello, thank you for that.
I just wish I had the rest of the seats. It does appear like it had the deluxe interior.
Still trying to decide on holding on to it for after I go thru my '72 Fury III or going ahead and selling it and hope to find another one later.

              Thanks again,
              Dan
