I'm doing a disc brake conversion on a 68 barracuda what hardware do I need to bolt on the lower ball joints. Diameter thread and length. Washer and stover nut? Found out the drum style bolts are too small
I just went through this..... The Length that I cam up with was a touch over 2.625". The thread pitch is 9/16-18. I used a standard height Jam Nut and then milled them down to a height which cleared the Shields, Calipers, and still locked the Bolt down.
I never found OEM Hardware and got everything from Fastenal and just cut/threaded/milled the Fasteners. Maybe someone will chime in as to where you can get the pieces as it took a while to make it all fit. The end result is everything worked out great.
Good luck,
JW
5/8 is the bolt size/diameter and the 2 3/4 is the length from the bottom of the bolt head down
Ya I was replying to the other the guy but 5/8 ×2 3/4 worked for you and wasn't too long or too big ...I'm pretty sure that it is a 9/16- 18 ×2.625 that was used5/8 is the bolt size/diameter and the 2 3/4 is the length from the bottom of the bolt head down
How about the length have you tried that?5/8 is a snug fit and I think the 9/16 will be too loose.
Oh so you brought your bolts out through the ball joint and the heads were inside again up against the rotorI brought my ball joint and spindle with me to check and I think I used a 3" because they didn't have 2 3/4. I did shave the head down for clearance of the rotor
On my old drum brakes the bolts come from the outside inOh so you brought your bolts out through the ball joint and the heads were inside again up against the rotor

They are 5/8 holesI just noticed that you didn't mention which disc set you are swapping to. Which one are you using?. I think the KH uses the 9/16 bolts and the later large disc's use the 5/8
Yepso the later disc brakes
Didn't know there were two sizes
