Lower radiator support

My car was a drag car and had loops for a tow bar welded to the radiator core support so when i cut them off it messed up the lower part of the support i have seen some ppl with tube or 2x2 box going under the radiator and was wondering if this would be a better choice for me than trying to rebuild the core support if any of you haver done this some pics would be great
