Hi guys, looking for some insight here.

In reading through the past post, I see a lot of reference to the Lunati Voodoo cams. Being an old schooler that is getting back up to speed, I always likes to learn new things.

I would like to hear your options on Lunati verses the Comp XE-274 that i am currently running. Back in the day Lunati was a "chevy" cam. Does the new Voodoo series take advantage of the Chrysler lifter diameter?

'73 Dart
360 +.030
blocked zero decked
TRW pistons / approx 10.5 comp
Heads bowl blended and port matched w/ 2.02 intakes
Comp XE-274 cam (230/236 @.050 w/ .488/.491 lift)
Air gap intake w/ Edelbrock 600 (would like to go bigger)
Mopar recurved distributor w/ chrome box
Hooker headers w/ Flowmasters and an "H" pipe
727 trans w/ Transgo kit
B&M torque master 2400 stall converter
Installation underway of an 8 3/4 w/ 3.73 surgrip & 255/60/15

Any idea what kind of HP / ET this combo might make?

Thanks!
Steve

Lunati, at the time that it was previously owned by Holley, was supposed to have done some research on the Mopar Performance Purple Camshafts and then, again, supposed to have made improvements. I have one of their cams to put into the engine I am currently building so as far as first hand experience I don't have any yet, but hopefully will soon. I CAN, however, tell you that the guys that work for them are OUTSTANDING. Knowing just what I wanted out of my car, I started calling around to different Cam producers and asking questions about their cams and what their techs suggested. All in all, the most helpful by far were the guys at Lunati. When I rattled off what I wanted, the guy didn't even hesitate when he told me what cam I should use to get that type of performance. I would totally recommend them as far as that aspect of them goes, hopefully I can recommend them on the performance I get out of their product soon. Whichever was you choose to go, good luck withyour build.

I'm running the Lunati voodoo 60405 cam in my stroker,i'm VERY happy with the results, consistent 11.0's,i also ran the 60403 when i first built the stroker and it ran a best of 11.27..i'm sold on them!!!

I'm running the 60404 in my 360, runs low 12s. Very happy with it so far.

I'm running a 60404 in my 360 and my build is almost identical to yours. With street tires I have trouble getting it out of the hole. When I do get a decent hole shot it runs 12.90's. With slicks I think it'd go 12.60-12.70 My car is a full dress street car with power steering. Race weight with a half tank of gas is 3610 counting my lard butt.

I had the XE274 cam in it first with everything else the same. The Lunati has considerably more torque down low. Pulls about the same up high. One strange thing I noticed I thought I'd throw in is for some odd reason the Lunati gets 2-3 mpg more when I cruise even though it's slightly larger. I would have thought the opposite. Go figure.

Lunati did allot of research and are grinding lobe profiles that take advantage of the bigger Mopar lifter dia. If you look at the specs the Lunati is slightly more aggressive than the comp. but their both good cams.

can't comment on the voodoo cams but i am running a lunati bracket master in mine, 360, stock bottom end, refurbished stock heads, the cam spec is 233 @ .050 on both with .480 lift but i have 1.6 roller rockers on it so the lift is more like .512
its lumpy but decent on the street. i have a 2.93 gear and it is still decent out of the hole but it really comes on past 3500 rpm, you can definitely feel it. i had to go to a 2400 stall converter to get it to run good on the street but thats expected.

Fishy68 is right about the mileage. Changed from a mopar purple shaft to my current voodoo cam this winter. Have driven her about 250 miles with the new setup & made 4 1/8 mile passes but just noticed on the way back from a 40mile trip to a show how much better my mileage was. Got the tip on this cam from the guy that did my heads and am very pleased. Only prob. I have had is it likes all the initial timing I can give it. Had some running hot issues. Have learned to just ramp it up a little for the track and leave it around 15 initial & 36 total on the street.
