make 225 sound better?

-
It's going to sound agricultural no matter what. IIRC the best one I heard on a combine had some sort of cylindrical baffled muffler. Maybe throw a Gibson on it and see how it sounds.

I love the factory style muffler and lawnmower sized exhaust pipe on my Valiant. Yea it doesn't fit perfectly and I've addressed some of that but it's so quiet.

- Recently, my exhaust has had enough, its shot and has leaks like crazy. Im poking around and not sure whats my market for a slant 6, anybody know any options I got to upgrade and make it sound less like a AC unit?
I only built one /6 for myself, long gone, but it ran and sounded very good. 170 cu in .060 milled head, 268 duration MP cam, 340 valve springs, and a stock 2 barrel carb and intake. I used one side of the 273 custom duals with a turbo muffler and a custom head pipe.

I bet that did run well. The 340 springs have always been a hot ticket. I bet the little 170 was peppy, too.

It was, it was in a 64 Barracuda with a 4 speed and 3.23 sure grip. Like Vixen, most people can not conceive how well a slant can run.
It's incredible, actually. I was slap torn to pull the original 170 outta Vixen. It just spins up so quick. Chrysler really knew what was up.

Here are some Ideas..
None of them really have anything to do with the exhaust, but that's how we hear it.
Proper Cam / Head / Compression choices that live in harmony with one another.

Your Slant will sound better when it is not stock no matter what exhaust you put under it. I no longer use shops. I build it all myself.

This one is not really an exhaust comparison, but you get the Idea..

Here are Stock Replacement Mufflers on a proper dual exhaust Slant 6:

and just for fun! - with no exhaust really.

W T F does "dope AF" mean! Talk English!
Sorry, that was an AI generated response, and I asked it to translate it to 'hood rat'.

It would sound neat. Six into six, by firing order, would have a unique and interesting sound if the pipe exits were in a row under the rocker panel

Mine has the TTI full exhaust coming off Clifford headers. Two 2" pipes off the headers into the 2.5" TTI system and I used a Dynomax Ultra Flow Welded muffler. I went through their flow chart and chose a part number that "they say" flows better than an open pipe. There is zero drone at any speed, but you can hear the exhaust note. I'm very pleased with it.
sounds like the cam has a BIG part in the sound at idle ..

Another thing most /6 guys don't realize is that those engines used to get major tune ups. That would include adjusting the valves hot and running. Many times it would make a noticeable difference in smoothness, power, and sound.

Nothing sounds exactly like a/6, in a cool kind of way. The 4.0 on my Jeep was close but not the same.... Nothing wrong with the /6 sound just like there's nothing wrong with the classic Mopar starter sound
