Does anybody know the particulars of heads on a '78-79 318 marine engine?

Local fella gonna scrap one out.

Any value here for a mild street build?

Thanks

witch direction it built to turn as some marine spin backwards,..alta lest have a good forged crank in it,..probably better heads too...

Actually the heads were of interest.. but does anyone have particulars on parameters on these puppies..?

A friend of mine did a chevy marine and it had a stainless steel crank in his engine he pulled out of an old Boat..... wish I had more info on the 318 marine engine..

the heads are just regular la 318 and the crank is only good for the rotation it was made for either rh or lh if a reverse rotation crank is used in a regular engine it will spew oil out the rear main seal.

Only difference on the heads will be rotaters on the exhaust valves and stainless steel studs holding the exhaust manifolds on, oh and the water jackets will probably be full of rust if it's raw water cooled.

When I was working at a Chrysler-Plymouth dealer in 1964, we got a notice that several marine cranks had mistakenly been installed in car engines, and to check for that problem if there were issues with seal leakage.

That probably means that car and marine cranks were the same except for the knurling in the crank seal area. If they had been a different material, the mistake would likely have been caught on the assembly line.

I know nothing about the heads, or any other engine similarities.

Thanks for the input peeps...don't want to see a potential treasure make it to a tuna fish can...:0
