Has anyone stuck a 426 max wedge into a Barracuda or any A-body for that matter?

Any problems that I'm not seeing or just the typical problems that are common with an RB into an A-body.

68 HEMI-DART.That should get you in the right direction as what it takes to do it.

Ha it was 3:30 in the morning when i read it sorry.Still only running on about 3 hr sleep.

No worries, been there. Insomnia has become part of my life, along with arthritis and a few other things.

You'll find exhaust to be the biggest problem. What I would do if I was doin one would be to build a low deck motor. Exhaust would be easier because the engine is narrower. A 451 would be nice in an early A. Also, FWIW, a single large carburetor would be way more efficient and make way more power than an out dated cross ram.....course it aint near as excitin to look at.

Its an all original max wedge. So I'm not sure if I would want to modify it to much. Is there a way to improve on the cross ram intake?

If that TRUELY is a Maxi, and it's your money, it would be worth a LOT more money when installed in the proper car body.

IF you want a good running B/ RB, I'd built a different engine and save the Max for the restorers

Mr. Norm's guys built put a Max Wedge in a Demon a couple
of years ago to emulate a supposed abandoned factory effort
in the 70's by Chrysler and Tom Hoover for NHRA Super Stock.

I understand though that you are probably wondering about
Stage III cast iron exhaust manifold clearance while this car
has headers. I'm not seeing those manifolds easily fitting as
my brother across the street has both a '63 Fury with them
on it and a 440 Duster sitting alongside for comparison.

I posted the Mr. Norm's car (with the headers) as a curiosity.

It was a tight fit, the upper right trans bell housing to engine bolt was all but impossible... You will need a longer then stock accelorator cable too. Out side of that it was no big deal. I did not try the stock manifolds to see how they would have fit, or if rather, now I wish I had. I ran my TTI headers. It was a fun ride but now my 440 is back in. I put some pics in this thread of the max installed.

It's the same as any RB, but unlike a mild 440 (like I have) you're gonna want headers and have to decide whether you'll run fenderwells or underchassis.

Not sure what you are trying to end up with, but you could cut the fenders for the clearance you need.
