Is there any difference in a 440 out of a motorhome than a car? Looking to build street strip car out of my 74 duster and i found a motorhome 440 out of a 79 Winnebago, just wondering if that would work?

Little difference I know of, and yes it can work, but I think manual steering only. You mainly need big-block adapter brackets (Schumaker) or a rare big-block K-frame. I recall that 1979 engines had cast iron cranks, requiring "external balance", which might have been on the torque converter. Anyway, get engine & tranny together and it would work.

You have to watch out as there was a head specifically for the motorhome 440s that had the water pump flow directly into them, they are largely considered junk heads. The rest of the engine was fine. Also 440s in motorhomes were largely low compression engines, nothing wrong with that, especially if you plan to rebuild it.

I was torn between tryin the 440 or i also found this combo for $300
1974 dodge 360 with 727 short shaft trans. out of 4x4 3/4 ton truck that had a divorced transfer case.. Had 70,000 miles when pulled. Ran good. Great motor to run, or great for stroker motor buildup. Everything but carb on it.
Might go that route
