Does anyone here have back, knee, hip pain or any other source of pain and can't get your doctor to prescribed pain medication? I've been dealing with back and hip pain for years now. The doctor's are quick with physical therapy, steroid shoots, weak pain medication. I don't understand why they don't want to help people

Doctors can lose their medical license if it's determined they prescribe to much pain meds.
I had a doctor tell me that the insurance companies control the medications. I'm sure that physical therapy helps some people but it doesn't do anything for me

There’s always shock therapy. I’ve had lower back and neck surgeries with no pain medication before or after.

The problem IS there is different pain. I've had bodily and joints pain for DECADES. In my working years I've had to walk the grey line between too much hard work and too much sitting that makes me stiff.

Doc prescribed gabapentin during shingles. I was talking to a member here on the phone, who is back east, and it sounded like we are similar. He takes gabapentin. I told the doc and we experimented. By the time I got enough in me to help the pain, I was a dizzy, sleep wreck.

My pain is not arthritis, or not all of it. Mine is more like fibromyalgia type of thing, nerve system.

And there is LOTS of other meds I cannot take AKA hard on my stomach.

THE OTHER reason is that the feds are skeered everybody is gonna become an addict, and hs REALLY clamped down on meds with narcotics like opoids

I was given gabapentin as well and it didn't do anything for me. I hate that you have that. Hurting is rough on us as well as our love ones. I heard about the feds cracking down. I also was told by a doctor that the insurance industry has a lot to do with what they can prescribe to us. I just got a call from my pain management doctor and they are going to try a different type of injection on either side of my spine. At least he's trying to do something for me.

I've been doing research on pain medication. I have pain from arthritis along with my other back issues and so does my wife and I found out that prednisone acts as a pain medication because it's a powerful Inflammatory medication.

Go get a sack of potent weed.
Smoke it before and after physical therapy. lol

You should wait and make sure you get the right meds. Don't rush it.
Also, make sure that you don't have to drive too far to the pharmacy.

All joking aside, when i damaged my disk at L-4/L-5, none of the meds that the absolute prick pill pushers gave me worked for me.
Opiates caused constipation and made me retarded. Gabapentin did nothing, tramadol did nothing. I ended giving the pills back to the doctor and self medicated with Martinis and weed. Indica strains worked for me, the Sativas did jack all.

Are you talking shock WAVE therapy. I like it so far. Insurance doesn't cover it.

Electrode Patches, sadly it’s for muscle aches. Doesn’t really do any good for arthritis. Shockwave therapy does look promising.

I've got either osteo arthritis or psoriatic arthritis.....don't know which because I've never been to a rheumatologist. My Doctor prescribed Meloxicam for me and it works pretty good. I mostly take it when it's rainy out, or if I will be doing pretty physical labor. It makes my knees, hips, ankles and shoulders feel better. Meloxicam is in the Nsaid family, so if it works and you take it regularly, you will need to get your liver and kidneys checked once a year. Getting old sure ain't for sissies, as most of us here are finding out!

I had those many years ago. my chiropractor order it and a couple of years later I got a big bill for the treatment because it wasn't covered by my insurance company like the chiropractor said it was, I argued over the charges and wound up paying something like a $150

I just paid $465 for 3 lazar treatment an 3 shockwave treatments. I still have 2 treatments left in the package. The first lazar treatment was free. I took a little tumble and they think I tore some tendons. Immediately got me back on-line . Still putting up with the other aches and pains. Gotta keep moving!!!
