Modern Mopar!

-
I have a 14 rt Charger also and think it has been great so far. Have about 27,000 miles on it so far without issue. Over spring break we took it on a 2200 mile trip from St. Louis to Savannah Georgian and then Orlando and back. Averaged a tad over 27 MPG. Not bad for 380 Hp in a heavy car.

Since selling the Demon last fall I picked up an '09 Challenger Rt. Made a few changes to it after I bought it. Flowmaster cat back exhaust, lowered it with stage1 springs, changed out the wheel and tires and added a custom stripe. I enjoy driving it and it has more than enough power for me.

when I saw that first picture I thought to myself, man that is the most ugliest spoiler ive ever seen on a mopar

then I looked again, and, well, nevermind

I daily drive a 2012 R/T Challenger with a 6-speed, the car is fun and gets decent mileage.

My wife has a 2014 Dart turbo 6-speed, that little car gets on average 32 mpg around town and 40+ on the highway.
She really likes it, says it reminded her of her old Neon she had years ago.

lol was thinking the same thing....I can't believe the thread made it more than 3 posts w/o joe and the chain gang coming out of the woodwork to post paragraph after paragraph of late model chrysler bashing.

so what. we all have to like the exact same thing? sorry that doesn't work for me. sorry if offends you so much that i'm not a chrysler/fiat apologist and have different tastes than you.. i actually like the 07 magnum we had when it wasn't in the shop for something which was rare. after that experience i've had enough of that car company. as bad *** as the hellcat is i just don't like the looks of the bloated challenger( and seriously its time for redesign already isn't it). and no rag top. what's with that. and the dart. lol.. it just blends in with every other car its size. nothing special to me. you can have those fiats. no sweat of my back.. :)

to the modern muscle part of this. there isn't much not to like. these modern muscle cars (camaro, mustang and chally) are all awesome performance wise. they do everything and you are comfortable doing it.. horsepower wars are back. whats not to like?

was down the track a few weeks ago.. freaking honda running low 13's. v6 or 4cyl mustang in the mid 12's. challengers and a magnum in the mid 12's to low 13's. that **** is awesome. i remember when i started driving in 87 and started building my first car that a 14 second street car was pretty respectable... now a 14 second street car is a pig..lol

X2!! I love my 2014 2.4L 6-speed Dart! I'm surprised how many complements I get on it! Its a great daily driver!!!

I have one of these, too. The Rallye has a stiff suspension and 17" wheels. It makes for a rough ride on the cratered city streets but it hangs tough on sweeping on/off ramps at speeds well in excess of those posted. The car is packed with features like shutters on the grille and a USB and an iPod hook-up in the console storage box. I can take my entire digital music collection with me and listen to what I want. Voice command on infotainment center and the hands-free bluetooth for the cell phone works flawlessly. Fuel economy is excellent at around 34 mpg running 65-80 mph with the A/C on. The 2.4 has enough torque to pull interstate hills without having to downshift to maintain speed. It's very quiet inside.

The six-speed is a love/hate relationship for me. The gear spacing is weird. I run out of first gear at about 5 mph. I can almost start out in 2nd. The difference between 5th and 6th is small. There is so much overlap among the gears, I skip around to save fuel. They make more sense when digging hard. The shifter is kind of klunky and spring loaded along the 3-4 axis. As long as I don't try to "steer" the shifter, it works fine. The other carp is that the Rallye with its 17" wheels does not have a spare tire. That's right, NO SPARE! What I got was a high quality air compressor. It didn't do me any good when the gopher holes in our streets claimed two tires within the first three months of ownership. Waiting on a tow truck ranks low on my fun meter.

I had to laugh at two flats, my wife did the same thing a few years ago in her 2011 Caliber.
She called me said she had a flat, I said change it, she was almost in tears and told me two flat tires.
At least the Caliber had a spare, and the spare off my Challenger fit the rear of her car.
Got her home.

Shocking...the same exact comments, using the same exact words, repeated over and over again, on every single late model associated thread. Also ironic you assume I could only possibly be referencing the famous anti 71and up chrysler joe. Since you clearly arent investing money on any junky late model mopars, perhaps invest in a thesaurus and look up a synonym for apologists.

Well the person that posted the original question asked(as in EVERYONE on this forum)what we thought of the new mopars..i think they SUCK!!! i wouldn't buy anything mopar has put out in 40 plus years hows that for bashing:violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1::violent1:..

I didn't notice that until you said it. Funny. Guess it'll bring home the mail then.

I totally agree on first gear being a PITA! That's my only complaint about the Dart. If the car is hardly rolling at all in traffic I just start in 2nd gear now. My Dart is a Rallye too but also has the Blacktop package with the 18" wheels. They really do handle well! I think these cars can easily handle more power without changing a thing suspension wise. Lol I couldn't believe it when they told me the spare tire was an extra cost option! I did get the spare for mine... I figured the compressor wouldn't work when I needed it to or the tire wouldn't be able to hold air for some reason.

oh brother. seriously ? are you really that bent out of shape because i don't agree with your taste in cars? thats a damn shame man. i think you may lack in the self asteem dept if my taste in cars bothers you so much. maybe hire one of those life coaches, i'll be he can help ya in that dept.

and hell i thought i complimented the new muscle from fiat along with the other manufactures. maybe take some reading classes along with the life coach.

Lol you are seriously a complete joke. Not every one lives and breathes internet forums and feel the over opinionated trash you ruin this forum with is worth the time of day. I just find it hilarious you are so high on your own regurgitated comments you actually think that you affect people's self asteem? wow. Have your opinions, great. Just learn some new words for christ sake.

no need for new words ya *** clown. seems i get the point across just fine. plus its obvious that i need to keep it as simple as possible for guys like you. :)

serious man.. go get a life coach. i think he may really help you with your problem.

Congrats on your self proclaimed internet victory. At least the life coach comment is something we haven't seen in 67 other fagabodyjoe threads. Im seriously impressed ;) I assume you must have one since u keep preaching the fact. Perhaps he can help you decipher real life success from your silly little internet spats.

i'm flattered that you are so obsessed with me. while you are in with your much needed life coach you may want to get a shrink recommendation. you obviously need one to help ya out with your man crush on me. as flattering as it is its kinda on the strange side.

lmfao...

It depends on who you ask. 770 is advertised by Mopar, but it dynode 816. And wicked fast, top speed over 220 MPH. that's nascar speed! I had it 160 and backed off, Still was pulling like a rocket. MT:burnout:

I thought the Hellcat was 707 HP?

How did you get 816 on your car? What mods did you do?

wow!! I will change the discussion just a little and give all the personality bashing a little break!!!
I drove down to Branson Mo yesterday ( spectator) and attended the Rt 66 Mopar club annual show. nice little show. I didn't count, maybe 60-80 cars??? I havn't attended any mopar show in 10-12 years. went to Nat something 20 something years in a row, BUT.....
half the cars there were newish Challys, Hellcat , this and that new stuff....that's all well and good, I just personnaly can't afford a new or used one. don't mind saying so, not that anyone cares or needs to know.
I did meet some nice people and looked over some great examples of cars I have a current interest in...
I have to admit that I get amused as how we Mopar people can get SO opinion ated over this new vs old subject! if these comments were made in public at that show, I guess the cops would have been called !! HA
since I was there in the 60's when the socalled muscle evolved, and there in the 80's when you could not buy a muscle car, I think its great people can now buy a pretty interesting looking, fast car with good mileage. ( even if stupidly priced by a company that gives not a rats ***!?) O K i'm open for "bashing"?? HA

I think it's great that Mopar is once again making big horsepower V8 muscle cars, I've owned a bunch of the older stuff (wasn't so old when I first started buying it) and now I'm on my second modern Challenger. I had an R/T and now an SRT. My last 340 Dart with minor mods could be driven to the track and run a low 14 second quarter mile my current SRT Challenger can be driven to the track and crank off a 12.2. I'm glad to see Mopar back in the game after a very long time absent from the competition. I also think it will be good for the Mopar hobby and shows. The amount of old iron showing up at events decreases every year, if we want the Mopar hobby to survive it's important to infuse new product, people and excietment into it every once and a while.

I really like the newer Challengers, and to a less extent the Chargers. The 2015 front face of the Charger is an elongated Dart. I'm not really sure why they named the new Dart "Dart". I thought Chrysler made a huge mistake replacing the Neon (I had one and it was a great car) with the Caliber. The new Dart should have been the new Neon.

I'm waiting for the worn out comment of fix it again tony! So stupid! I love the new mopars they get so many looks everytime you see one.

My new Dart is really nice. Really! The interior is roomy, quiet, and full of technology. It even reminds me of the older Dart Sports and Dusters. The plastic on the doors and dash are similar and the steering wheel is right from the charger. Three spoke like a tuff wheel. Best ride among smaller cars. You can even buy it in B-5 blue!

I thought the Hellcat was 707 HP?

How did you get 816 on your car? What mods did you do?

To get it to pass smog, they detuned it to 707. EZ to retune. Google it,:burnout:The funny thing is it still wont pass smog! It will be a big problem going forward for many. MT

Supercharged 6.2 Hemi: “HellCat V8” - Allpar

The Hellcat actually makes more than 800 horsepower, gross, but is SAE certified at the crank for 707.
