Mopar 350 Stroker

-
The custom crank and other work/parts required to make this pile of "stuff" even begin to go together would probably pay for a nice 360 block, gaskets, AND a Scat 408 stroker kit that would do at least 450hp with crappy heads and cam. Hell, if you are dead set on that 318 block just do the 318 stroker kit and have 390 that only you know about. $2500 at Mancini and you're done and have a rotating assembly you can count on. I'm sure it can be had done a little cheaper with some judicious shopping. Hate to see good money thrown after bad.

The bores still look good in that engine, but would still need checked for actual size and quality. If the block needed to go over what it is, 360 4 inch bore 4 inch stroke pistons for a 360 would be an option on the slim chance the cylinders passed sonic testing.

And a sonic test would be a good idea in general. A lot of 318 blocks get thin at .060 over. The ‘73 318 blocks I have seen were better than most in wall thickness, but you don’t know until testing is done.

Question on the parts, again. Did main caps for the white block come with it? And what brand are those rods? They look like good pieces. Being that this is all custom work, it’s possible the previous builder has ground the big ends of the rods to .925 width from .940 (.0075/side) and had the big ends honed out for 2.1 to 2.125 bearings (.0125 per side) which would allow using LA Mopar rod bearings after dressing the tang registers depth back in. It would be worth measuring them with the dial calipers to see if they have been modified in that manner. I don’t hate the idea of your using parts for a drag only kind of build, but I would want to sonic check the cylinder thickness above the cement. If you wanted to put an all Chrysler rotating assembly in, then here are your pistons for high compression with enough valve pocket for whatever cam you decide on.

i have those kb399 domed pistons for my own 318 build too, mainly as i'm using 2.02 'j' heads which wouldn't help the already low compression with stock pistons.
neil.

This thread is utterly fuckin ridiculous. Offset grinding or cutting a cast 360 crank to fit 318/340 mains and Chevy rods to make 350 cubic inches is like having plastic surgery to have 1” added to your dick to make it 4” long. The best advice you’ve been given already is sell off all that garbage and move on. What does a custom 350 cu in stroker with all custom parts do that a 360 doesn’t? Answer, NOTHING. Stop bullshitting yourself and put a proper plan together that doesn’t involve someone else’s science experiment gone wrong. Go get a 360 block and put a 4” crank in it. I don’t care if it’s magnum or LA. You'll be WAY ahead in power, performance, and reliability. And you won’t have to have any custom made parts or really do any special engine building tricks because the kits are layed out for you. Holy **** this is dumb.

I agree no need to reinvent the wheel here.
Build the 360 or 408 with tried and true parts combination. Most parts are reasonably priced. And if ya want different put a 318-2bbl (or 318 4bbl) sticker on the factory type 4bbl air cleaner. Every one will think it's different. Every one will think wow that 318 really sounds and runs great.

100%! He'll never agree, because someone's told him different and he's latched onto it. A true steel trap. lol
