Here's a few pics from this morning's breakfast cruise. Gathered a few members from Mopar Unlimited car club and cruised through Carbon Canyon (north Orange County, SoCal) to the Johnny Rocket's in Chino. Johnny Rocket's just started hosting a breakfast car show the 2nd Saturday of each month. Maybe a total of about 25 cars this morning - hopefully to grow in the future. Nice setup with awards, DJ, and discount coupons for return visits.

OK. Here's a bonus pic with a quiz.
Guess what the semi-bare area on the hill originally was (remember, this is SoCal and located in north Orange County) about 30 years ago. Club members are not eligible because you're probably longtime OC residents and may remember this.
I'll post the answer late tomorrow in case nobody gets the right answer.

The super bee and challenger are sweet!! It makes me want to cry when I see a car I'll never own.

Does that `68 Barracuda have a 6 Bbl. on it? 8)

Nice cars and nice scenery. I spent 9 days in SoCal on vacation a few years ago and seeing those pictures is a sweet reminder. Thanks for sharing.

Nobody took a guess but I'll tell you anyway. It was one of the most crackpot ideas of all time.
It was called "Ski Villa", a 7-acre artificial ski area. An unknown developer bought the land and decided to put in a year-round ski area in northeast Orange County at a cost of $750,000 (in 1966 dollars), complete with 3 rope tows and offering a 1/4-mile ski run. The land was graded to the specified profile, a 2" base of mastic cement put down and topped with 1.3-million interlocking 6-inch tiles of plastic bristles with a 1" nap. It operated for 1 year before closing.
As you can see, the land still hasn't recovered after 42 years of lying dormant.

That picture of the hills is very interesting. From what road did you take that picture?

We will go Johnny Rockets next month, but no one can laugh at our Dart.

Mopar Unlimited club members met at the Outback restaurant in Brea, then cruised out through Carbon Canyon to Johnny Rockets in Chino.
The pics were taken looking south from the top of the Carbon Canyon road just before it drops down into the Chino Hills area. The area of the pics didn't burn in last years fires, but the area just a little further to the south was totally toasted in the fires. Some evidence of the fires is still visible but the hills have mostly recovered with new growth.
PM me with some of the details of your Dart and any future plans for it.
