As the title says, I'm looking for a set of the very specific studs that are used with the long-discontinued Mopar Performance reverse lip/wide valve covers.

Prefer new but since these have not been available for many years I suppose used are OK as long as there is no damage. Need a complete set of 10.

PM with price + shipping to Stamford, CT 06903.

Thanks!

- Greg

you can get a set made. Call ARP with your specs. I had a set made a few years ago, around 100$ shipped.

I talked to them a while back about it and the rep on the phone told me they didn't do that sort of thing. Guess I can try them again.

I assume they still make custom hardware. Don't ask for a remake, give them specific lengths, thread count, thread size and material along with what type of nut you want to use.

I have the covers and the hardware kits. They are not for sale. The set we have are ball nosed. I have seen sets like you pictured. A good machine shop could possibly make them. I bought mine when they first came out. I bought the covers for around $380 . Then had to order the hardware kit $90. That was after I found it didn't come with the covers.

The nuts used are shallow Ny-locks . They back the stud out when removing them or you would never get the cover off with the engine in the car. We ended up using allen bolts on them

I milled the fins off the covers . You can see the balls on the studs.

You can special order the studs from ARP. Be sitting down when you hear the price.

The stud set I have I put with new covers that are in their box yet. I can get you measurements and pictures if you need so you can order them from ARP.

If it was me I would use allen bolts with a washer.

About what I paid for mine.

I might do that. These studs are proving to be kind of a PITA.

I milled the fins off the covers .
And they still probably weigh a ton.

3,213g = 7.08 lbs.

Yeah, like everything else. Talk to Wilson Manifolds lately?

I would greatly appreciate that, sir. Thank you in advance.

Seven pounds each?!?.
YES. Utterly ridiculous. Not sure how much weight would be saved by milling the fins off but it can't be that much. They are just really heavy castings plus they are sitting high up in the front. I searched high and low for these things and paid good money for them so no going back now but yeah, I was pretty upset about the weight. I try to save weight wherever I can and these were like 4 steps backwards.

I will most likely end up using allen head bolts like suggested but I figured it can't hurt to ask first.

These were much lighter but we ended up welding a notched plate to the bottom to stiffen them so they would seal. The mopar heavy covers sealed perfect and were already notched for the pushrods . Note; The allen bolts.

Steve just bought a new set of the reverse flange mopar covers new in the box for $700. We'll use them on something. They would be great for a Street car.

Did you happen to get the measurements for the studs? I can't find them anywhere. Mopar never listed them in the catalogs.

Also, what gaskets did you use with the reverse lip covers?

That's true. They don't grow on trees like they did in the eighties, lol.

I figure I doubled the weight of mine. I put a coat of turquoise on em (the gold was not presentable anymore.)
If only we knew then what we know now.

I didn't get down to the Machine shop and go into the storage building. It is 14 degrees below freezing here right now. I may be going down there over lunch today. I'll Grab them at that time.

I have a set still in the original box. $65 shipped. You can message me if interested. I can get a picture of the box if you want. I'm located in West Middlesex PA zip code 16159 if you would rather come in person.

I went to the shop for the pictures of the studs. Looks like he got another LD340 . He was making a cam bearing installation tool from scratch , Acme thread bar and nut with handles

It would be hard to start the nuts in the small area without the ball on top. There is barely any room for your fingers. With the ball you just set them on top and use a socket and extension to start them. The allen head bolts are much easier to install and remove.

I have a pending deal on a set of the studs, thanks for the replies.

I understand that bolts ultimately may be easier but it's worth it to me to see how the studs go. I can always get bolts if the studs are too much of a hassle.

These wide valve covers are cool and all but they are kind of a PITA.
