i just ordered a .484 purple cam for my 360 and was wondering if i have to get new valve springs or anything else?

also, if i need new valve springs, does anyone know what size i would need?

i found some elgin pro stock performance valve springs for cheap.
it says they will handle up to a .505 lift and are 1.494 diameter.
95# at 1.650
270# at 1.200
coil bind 1.085

will these work?

Off the top of my head, I do not remember what the MP suggested spring rate is on there springs but the real question is why don't you get the MoPar spring since they have a matched set to use with there cam?

It couldn't be to save a buck. Penny wise, dollor foolish ends up destroting engines quick.

honestly, it is to save a few bucks for right now...
im still debating on the spring though....i just sold one of my paintball guns so i have a few more bucks to put towards sumthing....probally the MP springs

If the spring isn't up to snuff, then a wiped out engine will be the result and saving pennies turns into wasted dollors.

Thus the "Penny wise dollor foolish" statment.

P4120249 which is the stock 340 valve spring replacement....

Look up the spring pressures in the MoPar engines book and then compare.

On the end of the box should be the "cam card" it should have some suggested part no.'s on it. It's been a while since I got an MP cam, but all of them I've got had this info on them, hang onto that card too.

i dont think i will end up getting the cam for a while and i wont have to worry about the springs for a while either....

they guy i was going to buy the cam from wants $26 to cover shipping....
i cant bring myself to pay that much

There allot better cams out there than the old 284/484 grind anyway so if he's trying to soak you on the shipping I'd forget it and do what Rumble suggested and go with a new Comp kit. The XE cams are a real good design. If your not a Comp fan Lunati also has some good offerings. JMHO

well i just said hell with it and paid the shipping....the cam is used, but i only paid $66.15 with shipping
but im thinking about just reselling the cam once i get it and not even worrying about getting a cam for a while....

the money i would spend on a new cam could go towards some interior that i need.....not to mention the price of valve springs and what not....
