What is a good brand that is reasonably priced mutimeter? I'm looking for a new one mine bit the dust.

Fluk is almost always the first choice.

i would NOT recommend anything from radioshack. Went through two (one was warranty replacement) and both failed and went schizo. Like a they do when you need to change the battery and give nonsense readings except new battery that wasn't the solution. POS.

While that was out of commission i went through a couple Harbour Freight branded ones (one of mine, one of my fathers), one the lead wire is super thin gauge and broke in the casing, the other i don't recall.

Never did buy that nice Fluk. And IMO they are not reasonably priced unless you make a living with one. yeah i used the K couple a couple times, transistor tester socket maybe 3... anymore volts and continuity, ohms handles all my needs.

Santy Clause brought me one from Sears Seems ruged and hey it still works and hasn't let me down for a few years now.

if you are going to use once or twice get the harbor freight. i have a fluke T5 does volts amp's and continuity digital both ac and dc. beat the crap out of the thing for almost 12 years now and still works great. look on e-bay or crageis list for a used one

Damn that fluke ****. I got this one from Harbor Freight and it works GOOD. Waste your money if you want to, but for what you're probably gonna do, this one will more than likely do the trick. If you don't like it, you can always take it back.

thats a significantly higher quality HF mulitmeter than what ive had the pleasure of using

My experience has been these that would go onsale for $6.99 or so. Damn $3 on sale now which makes it only $2.99 over priced ;-)

For the price you paid for the Horrid Freight you can buy a used 70 series Fluke. I have about 3 of them. The last two I bought I paid 40 and 50 bucks.

Here's one now. Buy it now, a Fluke 73 for 40 45 bucks and free shipping on one of 'em

You better hurry up, I might just buy 'em myself

You LIE! That first one is no longer available.

:-\"

DAM!!! LOL, I didn't buy it, either.

Hope it works OK. Make sure you buy a couple of extra fuses. The one for the current scales is expensive, but "you'll learn," LOL Keep a good batt. in it and don't let it sit around and leak.

I use a meter every day and would own nothin but a fluke, mine does amps, ac/dc voltage, cont. mili amps, and mili volts, 240.00 had it for 10 years of every day all day long use:cheers:

my Fluke 77 has been used and abused for near 20 years and still works like new
there is no replacement for quality

When I got it, it looked like new. Plastic still on screen. Works great. Thanks again 67Dart273. Sounds like Fluke is the way to go!

Can't argue with that, glad it worked out for you, myself, a centec one from HF, years of use and still working fine.
